Next run is Sunday at Grey Tower. June 21st 216B The party finished cleaning out the manor and headed on to Radcliff. They got to Radcliff shortly before lunchtime. Janelle convinced the gate guards that letting the troll in was ok, then escorted the party to a small cul-de-sac. At the end of the narrow alley was a small innocuous looking domed building. The front doors were open and most of the party walked right in. As soon as Korvath walked in, the alarms went off and two constructs appeared and attacked the party. Very soon 3 mighty psions appeared and laid into the party, causing Korvath and Swiftwind to disappear and jolting others with electricity. In the volley of high level spells, Wintermoon's horse disappeared. Eventually the party were compelled to go outside and give themselves up. Luckily Janelle recognised one of the psions, Paephelon, and convinced him that the party were not enemies. The misunderstanding was cleared up, and the party was invited inside to be healed and fed. Inside the second set of obsidian doors, the domed chamber (much larger than it appeared from the outside) pulsed with life. The psions invited the party to pass through the living gateway ("the orifice") to the interior of the lodge. Inside the group got to "participate" in a game of "Find the gnome" - a rather uncomfortable and invasive experience for those involved. Later, over lunch Paephelon explained some of the background of psionics and the actions of the Wilder group. The party found that they were not subjects of the prophecy, but rather were used by the Wilders as a distraction to keep the Colorless lodge group from acting. With the party's arrival, the colorless lodge realized that the Wilders must have captured the remaining Chosen. The psions charm rivalled that of the party, proved when one of the psions, Kendai, armwrestled Moge. First he cheated to win, then was sabotaged by his own "friends". Of the psions only Paephelon and Tomoko, Kendai's hapless girlfriend, seemed like nice people. The rest of the psions never stopped their childish bickering. June 22nd 216B Zelastine, the colorless lodge Chosen, Luitendal, an elven nomad, and Kendai set out to fulfill the prophecy. In the meantime, protected by the party, Tomoko was to maintain a mindlink with them. Tomoko and the party waited in the dome of the colorless lodge, with the gateway shut and the obsidian doors locked. Before long the group heard the sounds of outer doors opening, and Alex's crystal on the roof reported that the man in leather straps was back with two halfmen. Soon there were sounds of breaking bones, then splatter, then cursing "You mean, I was supposed to memorize *two* knock spells?!" Suddenly the door was shuddering and cracking under powerful blows. ("Why did they bother with those fancy locks on glass doors, anyway?") The door was shattered by a horrible abomination made out of living human bodies sewn together into the shape of a giant centipede, with a solid bony mass with spikes in place of its head and meaty protrusions extending 15 feet to either side. At its side, a familiar halfman with a battle axe. Wintermoon blasted them with a lightning bolt, eliciting a yelp from an invisible target, and Moge delivered a blow as Alex closed the door again with his wall of force. In a few seconds the wall was gone and the battle began in earnest. The halfman was quickly sliced to tiny pieces as Moge and the troll took turns on him. Unfortunately the abomination noticed and went after Alex, who retreated within a wooden barrell. Several salvos of spells were exchanged, then both the enemy wizards were taken down. The abomination took longer, as most of the party's weapons did not seem to affect it. Alex resorted to running around the room in his barrell, yelling "kill it already!", while the rest concentrated on hitting the single-minded entity. While the party was cleaning up, a disoriented Luitendal appeared in the room with unconscious Kendai and a dead Zelastine. They told the party that a powerful entity ambushed them. Luitendal seemed to lack many memories. Kendai survived numerous whitefires mostly due to his impressive buffs. The psions only got out due to Luitendal's contingency teleport going off in the midst of the ambush. Even then a dispell attempt was made on the teleport that saved them... It looked like it would be a couple days before they would be back up and functional. SESSION END Night of June 22nd 216 years after the Breaking NEXT TIME : Alex, the Chosen One?
