Dwarves- Racially divided after the poisoned earth led to the dwarven exodus. This is what saved them from the plague that destroyed other races as the climates the dwarves resettled to proved inhospitable to the plague. Blessed with fertility which has proved almost as much of a curse as a blessing.
Wooly- Hirsute dwarves living in the high mountains. Practice some form of ancestor worship tracking back to Barrak the dwarf who broke the curse of infertility on the great clans. Have a strong sense of personal space and are not very talkative. Just seeing another person is enough socializing for them. Very furry woolly and warm. Look rotund due to the bushy hair.
Saltbeards- The most "pure" of the various dwarven races. Descended from mountain dwarves from the great exodus that formed the great fleets. Sea faring dwarves about six feet tall with gold and jewels braided into their beards. Worship Old salt. God of artifice and dwarven spirits.
Seafolk- Half dwarf half fish. These offspring are often called Besmira's children. They range form the very fishy to dwarven with webbed fingers and toes. Worship Besmira but also practice an offshoot of dwarven ancestor worship.
Elves- Civilized. Live in great cities that are well run and very clean. Image conscious and germaphobic. Prone to settling debates in backroom deals.
Goblins- Brokers and bankers of the world. The middlemen of every marketplace. Half guild half mafia they are efficient and fight tooth and nail to keep what status they have won since the calamitous fall of human kind.
Halfling- ???.
Humans- Humans died off in great numbers during the plague. The few that remain were either half breeds or survived by cutting off all contact with the outside world for a few generations/ Those enclaves that remain are inbred, clannish, and strongly xenophobic.
Kobold- Arrogant nobility often deeply in debt to the goblin bankers. Kobolds are quick, clever, but often too smug for thir own good. Practice a form of dragon ancestor worship but not because they think dragons are gods, but because they evolved from them and thus that means dragons are special too. Kobolds are broken into clans by draconic bloodline and each bloodline tends to think it is the most special. Kobolds mine deep into the earth and often uncover indescribable horrors. When this happens they migrate to a new place and they carve new caverns until once again they dig too deep and the process repeats itself. Abandoned kobold warrens are the source of many of today's dungeon.
Red- Descended from red dragons, these kobolds can sometimes spit fire or smoke and are gifted with fire magics.
Brown - Descended from "deep dragons" these kobolds sometimes develop a soul piercing breath of cold that has no material component.
Orcs. - Orcs are big, strong, smart and immune to the plague. As a result orcs are now the every-man of the world. Where before humans were everywhere now orc is more common than not. If it wasn't for the orcs civilization woudl have collapsed. Orcs often practice Besmirian faiths but they have some tension with the Seafolk. Seafolk look down upon the orcs and thus the orcs do everything they can to make sure seafolk visits to the land are short and unpleasant.
