November 26th 216B Swiftwind has dreams about three brothers in Charden Dar. The dreams made very little sense and the others mocked him for his previous dreams. (Concerning a hag.) Swiftwind is adamant that the dream means something about the city the group found references to in Gulthias's library. Korvath also had dreams and feels confident that he knows where Gulthias is holed up. He is in Newtowne hiding in a merchant's basement. Some divination magic reveals that Gulthias will not be taken by surprise and the gods are still undecided on the Smiler. The party scouts the area of Gulthias's hidey-hole. When Herunaro goes by on a sweep for magic he is hit by several spells. Trailing smoke and wisps of acid he makes it back to the group where he is restored and the party decide to go in riding a wave of malevolent energy. Blasting in the back wall out of the store the group tear into the basement to find it full of dire rats. The party tracks gulthias's movements via a divination on his Goggles and rush in to attack him. The group is caught by suprise when gulthias tags them from the side with a cone of cold for considerable damage, while a rat carried his goggles. The group throw light rays and disintegrate spells but Gulthias evades, Swiftind attempts to corner Gulthias but find himself magically repelled by the vampire's presence. Gulthias chortles and begins casting his coup-de- grace only to have Jaenelle and Alex double team him with disruptive spells and cocoons. Gulthias slips free of the spell's entaglement, but the party stays on his tail. Jaenelle dispels spell after spell, just tearing through his defenses. Korvath bestows the blessing of Pelor's healing upon the undead spellcaster and while Gulthias is stunned Herunaro rips him apart with magic missiles and follows up with a disintegrate spell. The party retrieves the dust and cleans up the premises before departing for other places. There are several books and items recovered from the long sought spellcaster.
