CLEARING THE OLD TEMPLE (Sunday January 7th 216B) ------------------------------------------------- The party was left standing amidst the carnage from their heroic battle. Everyone was breathing heavily, and had blood splattered everywhere. Some people picked slowly through the wreckage of bodies blocking the stairs. After a while the mess was cleared up and the party descended into the darkness using Essandri's Magical lights. There is an extended argument when Moge uses corpses as battering rams / etc. Eventually the party manages to explore the lower level and finds various equipment and money gathered by the now dead bandits. Several traps are found and a ghoul is defeated with the help of Katie's holy magic. Among the more mundane items the party finds: magical candle of healing/cure disease, some paralytic poison, and a metal torch that glows when held aloft or attached to a pole to illuminate ceilings, etc. It seems that a lot of money and goods must have been moved away by the bandits, but when the places is picked clean everyone has overstuffed bags. Ascending back into daylight the party is attacked by a small group of twig blights. which were quickly defeated. The party returns to town and makes arrangements to have the bandit's equipment sold and some better equipment bought. After a few days a military patrol comes to town with the Kobold sorcerer (nicknamed 'Red Dog') Red dog recovers his staff and takes the party to free the north tower from twig blights and Goblin-kin in the area. Moge is asked to stay as guardian and assistant since his is strong (and easily charmed) With Moge gone, time passes quickly. People patrol the wall and spend their free time learning new weapon skills. Moge also learns a bit about 'Red Dog" and the history of his tribe. When Moge finally returns to town he understands Draconic and tells of ogres, goblins, and grimlocks working at the north tower. AN END TO THE TWIG BLIGHTS (Wednesday February 12th 216B) --------------------------------------------------------- Soon the party gets charged with going into the wastes and eliminating the root of the twig blight menace. Apparently there is a druid in the Citadel of Ashardalon whom is creating the abominations with the help of a twisted tree creature trapped far beneath the earth. The party is told to find the source of the twig blights and destroy it. There are some troubles getting to the citadel, but they are all handled pretty easily. Repelling down into the chasm where the Sunless Citadel (as it is now called) rests Moge gets attacked by dire rats while the rest of the party is on a ledge a couple rounds away. Still the rats are slain and the party eventually gathers at the bottom of the crevice to find a staircase descending into darkness. Lighting torches and brandishing the metal torch that the party has had mounded as a mace head, they descend into darkness. Traps, skeletons, and more dire rats are encountered. Then when Moge gets a bit too rambunctious the party finds itself jumped by kobolds. These kobolds have several spellcasters and disaster is narrowly avoided when Moge remembers the name of the Kobold princess and calls out (in Draconic) that the party is not an enemy of the dragon clan. A peace is made and the party is told about the goblins whom the kobolds are at war with. Apparently the goblins have stolen the kobold dragon/totem and the kobolds want it back. The party agrees to return the dragon if the kobolds can offer a safe harbor and lets the party keep any treasure recovered from the goblins and their allies. A kobold is assigned to the party as guide / punishment and the party travels through the tunnels to hit the goblins from the "back side" where they usually don't watch as well. It is also rumored that this is the direction they carried off the dragon. The party decides to search their back trail first and finds a water spirit trapped in a keg which attacks immediately upon being freed. The party also finds a tomb of elves/(dragons?) that is both trapped and guarded by the undead. The undead are easily mastered and a small bit of treasure is recovered. Two magical fountains are also found one which dispenses a magical fluid and another that spits a nasty poison gas. More rats are fought off but weakened by poison and by gas the party returns to the kobolds and spends multiple days healing. Katie shows off her skill at healing by curing both Essandri and Moge of filth fever using a special set of herbs she acquired. All better the party once again readies to set off. Experience Rewards ------------------ +100 Red Kate (Wooing Raenald, and for general bookkeeping) +50 Katie (having the right equipment when it was really needed) +100 Essandri (saving baby butterfly) +50 Korvath (Preventing Moge from getting trapped with the ghoul) (Note: I would be willing to give XP to anyone interested in writing up summaries. I usually give 50-250 XP depending on quality of the write up.) Session Notes ------------- Katie - has a chain shirt (since it is lighter than her scalemail and just as good. It was found in the temple) She also learned a new weapon durning the month of "regular" work that the party had to put in to keep Raenald happy. (Incase she wasn't there when I announced it) Essandri - caught filth fever (-3 dex -1 con) but Katie stopped the disease before it got any worse. Now with two days rest she is only down 1 point of dex. In the two days of rest Essandri was able to identify more about the magic on the items found by the party by working very slowly in a room free from magical disruptions. Moge - caught filth fever but Katie stopped the disease before it got any worse. He also got weakened by the trapped fountain. 2 points have returned to the lowered stats. All others that were poisoned get 2 points back to each lowered stat. (unless I get a clairification to the rules stating otherwise, it seems that that was the original intent of the rules.)
