It is known that gods once lived though roughly over a century ago they all disappeared during a series of calamitous events. Since then churches and worship have faded from daily life though divine magic is still used by government ministries. Divine magic is very ritualized it is basically the opposite from the raging chaos that arcane magic has become.
Divine Magic
Divine magic is ritualized, orderly and safe to use. It can only be done by people associated with the government ministry, Angels and other good aligned beings are only manifested via the ministry's spells. Divine magic can only make impermanent (i.e. charged) items. All divine magic is law aspected meaning that all users can not be chaotic.
Instead of serving a higher entity divine casters serve government entities. It is through this purpose they gain access to spells. Clerical magic is highly ritualized to make it safe to use. Clerical magic has none of the downsides of arcane magic though it is incapable of making permanent magical effects and items.
Types of divine casters
Clerics are the main ministry caster class. They can not be chaotic. The rituals and organizational requirements are not compatible with independent thinkers.
Paladins can be thought of as foot troops who have picked up a little ritual magic to help with their duties in the front lines. Paladins are not as high in the organizational structure being foot troops rather than ministers of government.
Druids can be thought of as clerics for more primitive people. They serve the same basic role for their tribe.
The Cosmos
Other planes are not known to exist. Spells that rely on other planes may not function or may function differently. Creatures of fae/shadow/divine/infernal/draconic type may have once existed but currently only mortal creatures and converted monsters exist.
