here is the summary...didn't know how to start it so just wrote brief
summary for the 5 days break we had note: there may be some strange spelling errors because i scanned it in from a print out...because i didn't have a disk to copy it onto. Journal Entry Day 10 (a week of fun) All of us decided to split up and do our own things for a few days. Since the kids wanted to learn how to swim, I thought it would be a good distraction for them. After paying 7 silver, which Ghel was kind enough to give me 2 silver to help pay and the others were a little cheap, to an instructor, we spent a few hours everyday to have some fun I learned it fairly quickly and it seems Delili was just as quick to learn as I was, but Cauzel and Sammy took a little longer to learn to float. The swimming lessons were fun and the instructor was were good with the kids. I noticed a lot of people admiring Delili's swimming, which made me notice her as well. She is quite pretty but I not too sure how I feel about her. Hopefully when we meet their relatives, I won't have to think anymore about her. I met with the P.I. and he was able to find the Tom we were looking for, but he had to charge me another silver to set up a meeting. I'm going broke quickly. I guess it's time to split the 100 silver we in the reflecting pool. The money should be enough to allow me to buy some books I want. Ghel went to Izol to check on his sword and Karn accompanied him. He learned that his sword has 4 abilities and possibly a fifth. Lock/Unlock, Sharpen, Wizard Lock, and one other that I forgot. He was also met by a messenger from our friend W. The messenger told them that once the government found out about Lord Falash's tax fraud, they closed off Lord Falash's estate to Lord Windsworth. Then he gave a big crateto Ghel and left. Inside contained 4 darts, 2 potions, 2 scrolls, 1 dagger filled with runes, a pouch that Karn said Ghel kept for himself, and a letter explaining what the itemsare. The dagger was some kind of magical dagger with high level runes of fire on it that Joseph couldn't read yet. The scrolls were healing scrolls, the darts were darts of seeking and the potions were unknown, so we gave them to an alchemist to identify it for us. Joseph was busy studying all day and night in his room. When asked, he would only say he was studying something. I wonder why all the mystery, he used to be quite honest and open with most of what he was doing. I do hope he's not studying those books he took from Lord Falash's estate. I'd rather not have another encounter with demons and such foul beings. Journal Entry Day 10 (unfortunate news) During lunch, a messenger came bursting into the inn. I recognized him to be one of Gabriel's messengers but I forgot his name. He obviously recognized me as well because he handed me a letter with Gabriel's sea[ on it and told me to give it to Joseph. Since Joseph was upstairs studying, we took a look at the letter before giving it to him. The letter stated that Joseph's mother's health was failing, they ran out of the medicine she needs, and Joseph was to return with the medicine within a week or she will die. The medicine was to be obtained at any cost. I've never met the women, but it's my duty to try and help Joseph find that medicine Joseph didn't say much about the medicine only that it was called the millennium root and it is very rare. It was supposed to been in the cargo that was suppose arrive a few days ago. We went to the bookstore to check on the availability of the medicine, but they had none and probably no one in Haven had any. Our only option was to look for the pirates and hope that they have it in their possession so we can take it from them. Sounds easy; hopefully it will be since we have no other choice. Since the kids and I were to meet Uncle Tom in the morning and we are to deliver the last crate to Olan in a bar in a town up north, we decided to wait till after all this before hunting pirates. Journal Entry Day 11 (pirate hunting) While they are negotiating on the price of beer and ale, I'm going to write what may be my last entry. The last time we encountered something that was haunted, I barely lived through it. This time I may have even worst luck than before. Let me explain what has happened. In the morning, we met Uncle Tom and his family while Joseph went to find a horse to ride beck to Gramby with. They seemed like decent people and Uncle Tom said since he probably can't take care of them, he'll have some relatives from the capitol to take the three in. It sounded fine until I noticed how he was looking at Delili. The others didn't seem to notice, so I decided it's best for them not to stay with there Uncle. I talked with Cauzel and asked if he would be interested in learning to be a warrior under Lord Percy's instructions or one of Lord Percy's men and when Sammy gets older, he can also train as well. He only said he'll do what ever I want, so I gave them some money and sent them back to the inn to wait for our return and if we don't return, they can go to there Uncle Tom when they run out of money. I don't think he wants to go to Sparlsburg and train under Lord Percy, so I guess I'll have to think of something else, but only if I survive this. After the kids left, Joseph returned and Terramill announced to us his decision to depart and head for the capitol. He each of us a nice and expensive reversible cloak that had the colors of Wynn on one side and the other was black felt with pockets that are difficult to see. We thank him for the gifts and his help and wished him luck and success. Then we went to look for Olan. We reach the town quickly and without any incidents. The town was very small and there was no bar, only a general store with several people outside. We asked them about Olan and he was described to be a heavy drinker and other things that made him seem unlikely to be able to afford the armor in the crate. So we entered the store and asked the owner some more questions. It seems Olan is not here now and the town has no need for armor. What they needed was beer and ale because it is sold out very quickly to a town Nesdin, up north. We believe that it may be the pirates who are buying up all the beer and ale in this town. There was also a town by the cliffs up north that had part of it sink into the ocean. No one lives there now and it is believed to be haunted because people have been disappearing. We also learned that there is an alchemist, Sumnerset, that lived in a mansion in the town by the cliffs. He was thought to be dead, but some claimed to have seen him in town every few years. Joseph believes he might have the medicine or know where to get it. We decided to visit the alchemist first then the town with pirates. Right now the others are loading the ale and beer they bought so we can try to pretend to be merchants selling ale and see if we can find the medicine in their hideout. I do believe this would be a good time to start praying to God and if I live through this I think I will start going to church more often, not just for healing. Journal Entry Day 11 (met death and survived again) I vow never to go into any haunted places ever again in my life. This trip was almost as deadly as, if not worse than, the party at Lord Falash's estate. Well, here's what happened and you decide which is worse. With the wagon loaded, we headed up north along the trail. I noticed a set of wagon tracks, so we followed it past two forks until reaching the half sunken town. This town had a few buildings along with the mansion and all were falling apart, but there was one big house that seemed to be newly painted. The streets were empty except for the roaring of the ocean waves, so we wondered who may have painted that house. At the constant nagging of Joseph, we headed for the mansion to look for the alchemist and medicine. As we were walking, a man named Nate suddenly popped up next to the wagon and began speaking with Joseph. He told his tale of how he and two of his friend came looking for furniture in a haunted town, Now that I think about it, it's very hard to believe that someone would actually come here looking for free furniture. I don't why we believed him. Anyway, he said they went into the mansion, split up, he got scared and jumped out a window. Since that was a few days ago, he has not determined the fate of his two buddies, Roger and Peter, inside the mansion. So he accompanies us into the mansion to look for his two best friends. We were fools to believe him. The mansion still had a functioning gate even though the most parts of the wall already crumbled down. Since the court yard was filled with overgrown plants, we left the wagon tied to the gate and headed toward the main entrance with caution. At the door, Ghel knocks and yells out "Anyone there" and, as expected, no one answers. Cautiously, I open the door and see paths to the left and right wing, straight ahead, and up the stairs. Looking for tracks, I see one up the stairs and one straight ahead. Joseph creates a ball of light and Ghel uses his sword's enchantment to sense traps. Ah ok, so this was the fourth ability. Anyway, with me in the lead and Nate behind me, we head up the stairs loud enough to wake the dead. At the top, there is a balcony to the left and a corridor to the right and Ghel warns of a trap near the left. Since the tracks headed right and a trap was towards the left, we turned right, Along the corridor were three doors, The first door was open and inside was a bedroom filled with large cobwebs and unfortunately I didn't think much about spiders at the time. I see a something shiny in the fireplace, so I go inside to take a look.. I use my sword to sweep a path through the cobwebs as I approached the fireplace and I see a shiny quartz, so I pick it up and head back to the door. Halfway there, a spider lands on my shoulder, Nate calls out, throws a dagger at my face, and the spider bites me. The dagger cuts my cheek and the spider bites the same exact spot. In pain, I suddenly see a dart hit the spider and when it falls off me, Joseph drags me out the door and examines my wound. He tries his best to bandage it up and I felt a little dizzy but it went away quickly. As Nate apologizes, Karn comes out with the dart he threw in his hand and we head for the second door. The door was open and we it appears to be another bedroom with a table by the window. Ghel warns of a trap on the right side of the room and commands Nate to walk into the room along the left side towards the table. Seeing no harm come to Nate, we quickly follow. Out the window, we see a clear view of the ocean and on the table we find nothing but a few rust rings. We think that the rings may be from a directional light used to guide the pirate ships into the sunken town. Joseph was not too readily to believe that, but with pirates in our mind, we head for the third door. It turned out to be looked and Ghel, wanting to show off his new toy, borrows some magical energy from Joseph and unlocks the door. Inside was another bedroom with the rotting body of what Nate recognized to be Peter. Since none of us were experts on judging dead bodies, we can only guess he has been dead for a few days. As the others search the room, I go back to the corridor and look out the window and see the end of the cliff and the ocean. Looking down I see a key so I pick it up and trying it on the door, I locked and unlocked the door. Not wanting to insult Ghel and his toy by showing him the key and saying how he wasted Joseph's energies on the door when we can bump into pirates at any moment, I put it back. I was saving that for after we get back to the inn. We our search done, we headed downstairs, with Ghel carrying Peter on his shoulder. Ghel puts it by the door and we follow the second set of tracks straight ahead, deeper into the mansion. Ahead we see a door on the left, right, up ahead, and a corridor ahead as well. The doors to the left and right had fallen off, so we took a quick look inside and saw that one room was a dining room with a broken table and only one chair. I don't remember what the other room was, but it was nothing important. We move ahead where the other corridor led to the back door and the other door opened up to be the kitchen. We went inside to looked around. As I was looking a the pots and pans, Karn, next to me, opened the cupboard and a hoard of centipedes came crawling out. I quickly backed away when I saw one climbing up Karn's leg, because I suddenly had flashbacks of the tick biting into my leg. Karn took care of that one by throwing a dart at it, grabbing it, and slamming it on the floor a few times. As I was backing away, one of those things tried to bite me, but couldn't get through my boots. After Karn was done, we all rushed out into the corridor, caught our breaths and headed toward the back door. Upon opening it, we saw a large garden with overgrown plants. The only one Karn recognized was the tomato plant. Seeing that none of the plants growing were the medicine, Nate tells us he saw a stairs leading to the cellar inside the kitchen. Cautiously, we entered the kitchen and seeing the centipedes went into hiding, we took great care in avoiding that area as we approached the stairs. With Nate behind me, I led us down the stairs into the cellar. To my disappointment, the cellar was filled with shelves of broken wine bottles. There was also two metal boxes and another corpse which Nate recognized as Roger. With Joseph watching the stairs, we searched the room and examined the body. Roger seemed have decayed more than Peter, but when Ghel saw the big dead guy had chain on, he quickly tried to remove it and see if it fit. As he was doing that, I went to check the boxes, but when I looked up the stairs, I saw a dark form of a man standing at the top looking down at me. I felt strange, so I avoided his eyes and quickly told Joseph that a man was up there. Then everything went black, and the next thing I know, when I open my eyes, is Karn and Nate with a dripping dagger locked in combat. I reach between Karn's legs and grab Nate's leg so Karn can back away. Karn threw some darts and Ghel quickly came and out open Nate's stomach and his intestines fell all over my arm. As I was trying not to throw up, Ghel runs back up the stairs with Karn a few steps behind. When I was able to control my stomach, the others came back down and explained what happened as they examined Nate. It seems that when I blacked out, they dragged my next to roger. Then Ghel and Joseph went upstairs to see if someone was up there, while Karn and Nate stayed with me. Ghel and Joseph met the dark man who was the alchemist Sumnerset. While talked a while about some stuff, Nate went behind Karn and tried to stab him with a poisoned dagger. Karn yelled out, Ghel rushed back down, saw me holding Nate, then split open Nate's stomach. When Ghel noticed Joseph didn't come down, Ghel and Karn went back up. Ghel saw Joseph floating in the air, with Sumnerset nibbling Joseph's neck. When Sumnerset saw Ghel, he threw Joseph at Ghel and ran. Ghel caught Joseph, noticed Sumnerset was gone, then went back down and took a look at Joseph. Joseph had to holes in his neck and upon examination of Nate's body, similar holes were found under his arms. From this we guessed that we were up against a vampire and that our friend Joseph might turn into one as well. While Karn was looking for his darts, Ghel found some throwing daggers and a dagger sheath with poison on the bottom. Ghel took these for himself, he seems to be getting greedy lately. I see him taking a lot of things for himself. But to continue, Karn noticed a door that was designed to look like the wall. Ghel used his magical toy again to open the door and inside looked to be the alchemist's lab. To the left were two doors and the floor was littered with broken glass. There was also a metal mirror on the wall that we used to see if Joseph still had a reflection, which, lucky for him, he did. The right side had a clear path that seemed well used, but we checked the doors first. The first door led to a bedroom that was well kept. Inside we saw a table that Ghel sensed had a trap, a chest, a locker, and a bed. Suddenly, Joseph announced that he had an unknown spell on him and that he can sense the vampire's general location and that it was coming down towards us. So we searched quickly and found the signal light and Joseph took a lantern. When the vampire was going down the stairs, Ghel decided to close the door. At the same time Karn was checking the trap to see if it was magical with me right next to him when the table exploded throw both of us against the wall. Joseph noticed a book burning, so he cast a spell that put out the flames and wrapped the book up. Ghel then yells out to us because he was fight the vampire. The vampire was able to reach the door before Ghel closed it. Since the vampire didn't know Ghel's sword was enchanted, it let Ghel take a few swings at it. When it noticed the pain from its wounds, it vanished before Ghel could slay it. Before it vanished, the rest of us managed to get out of the room and watch Ghel swinging into the vanishing form. Joseph said he felt the vampire's presence everywhere in the room. Then he felt it go into the other door, before losing the feeling. He checked and told us that he doesn't have anymore spells on him, which I had a little trouble believing but since the others didn't say anything, neither did 1. The other door was a metal door with a big latch. When we tried to open it, it was locked in the inside, so Ghel borrowed more magical energies from Joseph and unlocked the door. Inside the small room were rotting corpses and skeletons. As we were about to step in and look around, the skeletons started to move. Not wanting to fight anymore undead things, we quickly closed the door and locked it. We were ready to leave but Joseph wanted to search the other side of the room where there seemed to be a path. After searching the walls, we found a hidden door and it opened up to a small tunnel. Since the others were still feeling adventurous, because I wanted to get away from this haunted house, we started crawling through the tunnel to see what was on tttle hungry. Since the others are not back from the church yet, I check with the kids and see if they want to join me downstairs and order some food to eat, Journal Entry Day 12 (hopefully a peaceful day today) Last night I drank a little too much so I wasn't able to finish the story, so I'll finish this up before we head out with the boy and his pet to look for his Princess Catherine. Ok, the tcks and found it full of sailors and what looked to be the captain. I caught sight of the captain looking in my direction and then talking with one of the men inside. As the man went for his sword and the door, I quickly ran back to the captain's house to hide. After the guy came out, he looked at my tracks and rushed back into the barracks. I ran back to the others to warn them that I've been seen and we may have another fight. The captain came out with five of his men and headed into his house. It seems that the captain was atunnel we bum ped into two other sailors but luckily they were unarmed and had to run back from where they came from to getry not to drop any of his master's precious books. We then headed for the aces to look for treasure. Well we decided to take the boy with us back to the inn. Before heading towards the inn, the others wanted to see the priest at the church. Since I didn't want to go, I took the boy back to the inn first. The others went to the priest, explained about what happened with the encounter of the vampire, and was fully healed. The priest told them not to worry about the vampire because he will send in paladins to take care of that. They returned to the inn and went to bed. In the morning Joseph packed up what he could and headed for Gramby as fast as he could. Well, it's time to head out and meet this Princess Catherine. Then we will find someone to dispel the magical trap on the chest and split the stuff inside. Hopefully the chest would be filled with some money since I'm running low. Journal Entry Day 12 (a quiet day) Not much happened today. We reached to tower that Princess Catherine was locked up in and Karn was able to get his scepter back. We decided
