Most people are casually religious. They attend services so that they have access to church member benefits. Typical benefits include banking services, access to magical spells, the ability to purchase magical items, and the favorable impression of a large cultural institution with lots of resources.
Former Lothian territories hold a monotheistic "One God" belief tempered with tolerance for other "mistaken" beliefs. All domains are available. Worship is done typically through patron saints.
Terino religion - a new growing faith from the Terino Territories professes a more personal relationship with god, but is less tolerant of differing views. Elves and arcane spellcasters are particularly disliked. All domains are available but Law or Sun must be one of the chosen domains.
LOTHIAN RELIGION
Lothian Religion is based on the divine powers of God and the corrupting taint of his adversary. Yet there is a third source of power. The very essence of the world has a magic of its own, and druids and some others chose this energy rather than ally themselves with one of the two sides in the great war.
It is possible to worship God or the Adversary, but most priests worship in the name of great men and women whom were blessed by god and these god-saint put a human face on the divine and help followers keep the faith.
There are a great many spiritual orders and each has a patron saint or divine agent as a focus for god's energies. Each orders, magic is slighlty distinct from other orders. It is not uncommon for an order to recognize several other saints in its churches nor for a priest to worship in the name of more than one saint. The practice of acknowledging other saints allows followers to pray at affiliated orders when travelling or the need arises. There are even a few orders whom do not have a temple of their own because their order is too small or sainthood is so recent that they only get to worship through visiting affiliated orders.
THE GOD-SAINTS
Each of the PH gods are only a "saint" in my world. There are many more taken from Greek, Norse, and other mythologies. If you have a concept come to me and we can flesh it out. Each saint has a "personality" to its magic defined by the god saint and the personality of the saint's followers.
MAJOR ORDERS
Boccob - Boccob's order is mainly concerned with knowledge and magic. Baccob is the patron of seers, librarians, teachers, and mages. Often portrayed as consort to Wee-jas. His warren consist of information gatherings magics.
Heironeous is the god-saint of valor. He represents valiant paladins, brave warriors, and honorable kings. His credo is "never give in to weakness". Battle magic are features prominatly in his warren.
Pelor most common god-saint is that of Pelor. Pelor was a philosopher whom theorized that man could ascend to become agents of god. Widely recognized as the first of the god saints, Pelor is also the most widely worshipped. His temples are open to followers of all other saints. His warren is related to charisma and organizational skills.
Jaas - "The mystic oracle". Formerly Weejas. As Weejas she was known for preserving beauty with magic and an obsession with avoiding death. Until recently Wee-jas was the patron to most undead, because she saw undeath as a way of making that which is beautiful immortal. But in the year 216 (after the breaking, Weejas restructured her priesthood and began answering only to Jaas or "the oracle". Some of the priesthood state that she released her claim on death to become keeper of mystic knowledge. Rumor is that the changes in magic and psionics resulted in her getting trapped outside time where she can see both the future and past. Her realms include knowledge, magic, and divination (normally a prestige domain). Sorcerors and Mages in the good graces of Jaas can take imp familiars as if they had the improved familiar feat.
Yondalla is a peaceful protector spirit whom is gentle and peaceful. You will find a shrine to her wherever there are halfmen. Her credo is "enemies should never be made lightly". The magic of Yondella is protection based.
(The other PH gods should be considered included here as major orders.)
MINOR ORDERS
Lovitar (The Gauler) - saint of pain and suffering. Immortals whom break the codes agreed to get punished by Lovitar for eternity. Her adherents on earth include prison guards, torturers, sadomasochists. Considered a necessary evil by many since she plays an essential role in the heavens. Punishment is her specialty domain.
Athena - Athena is often portrayed as a feminine halfman aspect of Heironeous or as a warrior aspect of Yondalla. A relatively new saint her shrines are usually found in larger temples of Heironeous or Yondalla.
Joleth Former god of healing, justice, and death. Originally thought to be destroyed during the Thule war. Recently it has been rumored that he survive by descending to earth and taking shelter in the body of his last surviving high priest. These rumors state that he is now nothing more than a servant to other gods in return for his continued existance.
Constatine mysterious psuedo-ascendant trickster. Former rival of Kiri-Joleth he held positions in the realms of trickery, luck, and magic up until 216 where he lost his position as knight of the house of magic during the time magic stopped.
Loth The not-god. He was the founder of the Lothian empire. First elf to return from the lands beyond time, His raising killed the god responsible for bringing him back. It is said his return was incomplete and to see him is to die or go mad. Since his return he has taken over as regent of Lothia and directs long term decision making while staying out of the daily political battles. Surrounded by loyal undead minions he rules the last golden empire. His continued exstance is said to be the bane of elfkind. Until he returns to death Elves say they will forever be barred from the peaceful realm. But it is also said that he is the bridge that has made it possible to raise elves.
DIRECT WORSHIP
It is possible to worship God or the Adversary directly but these unknowable forces do not have the 'humane' touches of divine agents. Direct worship does not grant domain spells to followers. Druidic followers of Gae worship directly without a problem but it is theorized that the earth is just granting energies invested in the earth by both God and the Adversary, so the earth is just another living agent of the heavens.
