"Talitha cumi!" : Damsel, I say unto thee, "arise"

“Talitha cumi” is the word of prophecy for you today. Let us turn to Mark’s gospel, chapter 6, verses 21 to 43.

Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogue, came to Jesus with a prayer request. On seeing Jesus, he fell at His feet. Then he besought Him “greatly” saying, “My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay Thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live”. Then Jesus went with him and the multitude followed and thronged Him. On the way, a woman who had an issue of blood twelve years, came out of the crowd, touched Jesus and received her healing. When Jesus wanted to see that woman, she feared and trembled, falling down before Him. When Jesus praised her, a man from the synagogue of Jairus, came informed Jairus, “Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?” When Jesus heard this word, He said to Jairus, “Be not afraid, only believe”.

Then Jesus suffered no man to follow Him save Peter, James and John and came to the house of Jairus. He saw the tumult and them that wept and wailed greatly. When he came in, He said to them, “Why make ye this ado, and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth”. On hearing His word, they laughed Him to scorn. But Jesus put them all out, took the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with Him. He then entered the room where the damsel was lying.

And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, “Talitha cumi” which means, “Damsel, I say unto thee, arise” Mark records in his gospel, “straightaway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment”.

Dearly beloved, did you have a damsel, a little girl, lying at the point of spiritual death in your house? It is your little daughter. The damsel or the little daughter is only a prophetic sign for you here. The damsel may be a spiritually immature spouse of yours who had forsaken you. The damsel may be a spiritually immature daughter or son of yours who is not yet saved. The damsel may be a spiritually immature person whom you love in Christ Jesus who has since backslidden. You have now lost all the hope of revival of this damsel because the damsel “is dead” in the eyes of this world or in the eyes of those who are in your church or fellowship. The man who brought the message of death to Jairus said, “Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?”. You have now received this message of death.

Similarly, your damsel is spiritually dead. But in the eyes of Jesus, she “sleepeth” Jesus tells you today, “Be not afraid, only believe”. It is through your faith in Jesus that you are going to get your spouse or your loved one restored to you. It is not through the prayers of others but through your faith that this miracle is going to happen. You would have posted your prayer request over the internet seeking the prayers of others. I do not know how many of them did pray for you sincerely. The people gathered in the house of Jairus did weep. Even after seeing Jesus, they wept and wailed “greatly”. Maybe, many people must have prayed and even wept for you. But none of them took Jesus to the house of Jairus. It was the heart-cry of the father that moved the heart of Jesus.

What are the secrets for the revival of the dead damsel of Jairus? Let us examine one by one here.

Firstly, Jairus on seeing Jesus “fell at His feet”. Similarly, if you want to get your damsel restored to you, you have to surrender your life completely to Jesus. You cannot have one foot into the world and another foot into the Kingdom of Jesus. Jesus wants you to surrender to Him 100%. If you are addicted to any bad habit in your life that destroys your body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, Jesus cannot perform this miracle for you. You have to surrender to Jesus in your body and spirit.

Secondly, Jairus besought Him “greatly”. Just fall at His feet and tell Him, “My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay Thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live”. You would have prayed to Him a number of times, “Lord, perform this miracle for me”. But today your word of confession is very important. Tell others who are weeping with you and who see the dead damsel in your house, “Jesus is able to restore my spouse/my loved one and he/she shall live” The people around you may laugh at you because your spouse or your loved one was spiritually dead long ago. Do not bother about what they say. Keep confessing your faith to them. In their eyes, your damsel is dead but in the eyes of Jesus, your damsel “sleepeth”. This is a great secret.

Thirdly, you may now take Jesus and His three disciples into your house. It is a prophetic message for you. Jesus is already there. What about His three disciples who are very close to Him? Have you found out three people of God who love Jesus and who are His disciples? Just share your agony with them and ask them to agree with you that your damsel would be restored to life. Jesus could have performed this miracle alone but He took His three beloved disciples along with the parents of the damsel to the room where she was lying. You need to have fellowship with the true disciples of Jesus Christ.

You are now taking Jesus and His three disciples to the very place where your damsel “sleepeth”. Jesus now takes your damsel by the hand and said to her, “Talitha cumi: which is being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise”.

Your spouse or your loved one may be in a distant place. Do not bother about it. Your job is to surrender your life to Jesus and then take Him and disciples to your house, beseeching Him “greatly”. “TALITHA CUMI” is the prophetic word that will reach the ears of your sleeping damsel.
