1-1/2 lbs. flat iron steaks, cut into 4 pieces
1/2 c. whiskey
1 T. brown sugar
kosher salt and black pepper
2 T. olive oil
4 cloves of garlic, minced
Fire up the grill to a medium high heat.
Whisk together the whiskey, sugar, salt and pepper until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
Add the garlic and oil.
Add the steaks, turning a few times until well coated. Let marinate for 20-30 minutes at room temperature.
Remove the steaks from the marinade and pat dry. Put the marinade in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook for 3-4 minutes to make a glaze for the finished beef.
Grill the steaks 3-4 minutes per side. Brush with the glaze the last few minutes of cooking.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
