文法，十個學生有九個半聽到都會一個頭兩個大，文法是多年來台灣英語教育體制下一個受害者，其實文法就是一個語言的骨架，讓溝通有效率和正確地傳達，我們來看看國外如何定義文法(Grammar)一詞:

Grammar is one of the most important concepts in human communication. It is how people ensure that they are understood properly, and it is also the most effective way to express any thoughts and concepts that they want to share.

然而，原是活用的句子結構，確演變成一條條硬梆梆的公式，讓學生避而遠之，真的是讓人心酸啊。好在，阿飛在課程上慢慢導正學生和學員(成人英文)對於文法的誤解，而讓他們覺得文法其實是語言應用的根本，讓他們慢慢去感受到文法的優點和生活面，而非考試面；換言之，就是要溝通用而非考試用。

我們使用形容詞來描述和補充周遭人們和事務更進一步的資訊，不過有時候，我們想知道這些人們和事務上彼此之間的一程度上的比較，這時後就會使用比較極或者最高級。

比較級的規則

當一個形容詞為一個音節或兩個音節，可以直接在形容詞後加上字尾-er，例如:

nice > nicer

short > shorter

healthy > healthier

但有許多的形容詞的是本身是超過三個音節或者更多，就不能直接加上字尾-er，而必須使用副詞more來完成比較級，例如:

beautiful > more beautiful

difficult > more difficult

competitive > more competitive

等等，比較級在此還沒有百分百完成喔!既然稱之為比較級，就是要有個比較的對象，所以上述只先告訴大家形容詞的比較級形態如何構成。所以比較級句型中有個關鍵的連結詞，than，用予連結兩著比較對象之間的關係，例如:

* Molly is smarter than Katy.

* Sean is more intelligent than Oliver.

* People in Taiwan are friendlier than people in Korea.

Farther 與Further的用法

在比較級的變化中，有一些常見的單一音節的單字，會讓人有些困擾，其中far就是一個典型的例子。far的比較級依據上述邏輯，應該是farrer，但事實上卻非如此，而是變化成farther，例如:

Your apartment is farther from work than Billy’s.

此外，far的比較級還有另一個形式，further，例如:

My work condition has improved further than yours.

在於farther與further兩者之間的差異性，基本上我們使用farther來表示實際上可以衡量的距離，而further則用來表示一個較抽象而無法實際衡量的距離。不過，在現實中，很多美語使用者會將兩著交替使用，都屬於正確。但是礙於台灣有些”傳統觀念”上的標準答案，因此在考試上，還是以自己出題老師”標準”為主，以免被扣分。

最高級的規則

如果當我們想要比較的對象是超過兩個以上，那該怎麼辦呢?這個時候就是使用最高級啦，用於描述東西之間最多程度上的表現。當一個形容詞為一個音節或兩個音節，可以直接在形容詞後加上字尾-est，例如:

nice > nicest

short > shortest

healthy > healthiest

但有許多的形容詞的是本身是超過三個音節或者更多，就不能直接加上字尾-est，而必須使用副詞most來完成比較級，例如:

beautiful > most beautiful

difficult > most difficult

competitive > most competitive

當我們在強調為程度最高的那一個，屬於特定對象，故此最高級的使用上一定要搭配the在於某個範圍中的最高比較，凸顯其中的最高程度，例如:

* Molly is the smartest girl in our class.

* Sean is the most intelligent student in this high school.

* People in Taiwan are the friendliest in Asia.

在Charlie Rich所唱的The Most Beautiful Girl in the World，其中有段歌詞是這麼寫著:

I know I’m wrong and I couldn’t see I let my world slip away from me, so…Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world? And if you did, was shy crying, crying?

good,better,best/ bad, worse, worst 的組合

形容詞的不規則變化中，則以good和bad這兩個對比字為最佳的示範，因為都很短也簡單，所以背起來也沒有負擔。許多歌詞中也常常出現這兩個組合，這次我們就以better為例，由Boys Like Girls和Taylor Swift合唱的Two is better than One，歌詞中就有很好的例句:

So maybe it ‘s true that I can’t live without you. And maybe two is better than one. There is so much time to figure out the rest of my life.
