Korean Steak BBQ Bowls
What you need:
For the spicy marinade:
- 2/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 Tbsp. canola oil
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. spicy chili paste
- 5 cloves garlic
For the steak bowls:
- 1 lb. top sirloin steak, cut into very thin pieces
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
- 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
- 2 handfuls of spinach or more
- Wonton strips, for garnish
- Scallions or green onions, for garnish
Directions:
- Place all marinade ingredients in food processor and pulse until smooth.
- Place steak in a large plastic baggie and pour enough marinade to cover the steak. Reserve the rest for serving. Refrigerate steak for 1 to 2 hours.
- When ready, heat a heavy pan over high heat. Drain off excess marinade from steak and then add steak to pan (with oil, if needed).
- Cook steak until desired doneness. I did mine about 1 to 2 minutes on each side. It was thin, so it cooked quickly.
- Let steak rest for a few minutes, then toss it with veggies and more dressing (if desired).
- Top with wontons and scallions and serve.
