Beer Battered Onion Rings

What you need:

    • 2 cups all purpose flour, divided
    • 2 tsp. paprika
    • 1 tsp. garlic powder
    • 2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
    • 12 oz. pale ale beer
    • 2 large yellow onions
    • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

    1. Whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour with paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper.
    2. Whisk in beer until well combined and then let rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
    3. Peel onion and slice into 1/2-inch thick rings. Toss with 1/2 cup flour.
    4. Heat vegetable oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat to 375 degrees.
    5. In batches, dip onion rings into batter and shake off any excess.
    6. Then immediately fry until golden brown on each side, flipping once during total frying time.
    7. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
    8. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
