Beer Battered Onion Rings
What you need:
- 2 cups all purpose flour, divided
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 12 oz. pale ale beer
- 2 large yellow onions
- Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
- Whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour with paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Whisk in beer until well combined and then let rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Peel onion and slice into 1/2-inch thick rings. Toss with 1/2 cup flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat to 375 degrees.
- In batches, dip onion rings into batter and shake off any excess.
- Then immediately fry until golden brown on each side, flipping once during total frying time.
- Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients.
