The subject of this drawing is picture of me. The background is a light gray which I used to emphasize highlights. I used a 4H to sketch the features of the face and hair. I used 6b to shade and add dark shadows. I based my portrait off of this specific picture because I wanted to choose a more challenging angle to draw because I'm pretty comfortable drawing portraits. In this work I used line to show shape and value to show form and texture. One of the things I tried to avoid which I have done in the past is outlining where there is no shadows.
In this piece I used a lot of shadows and highlights to emphasize the shape of the features. This project started as a pencil sketch of the features of the face and hair. Then, I slowly darkened shadows and added midtones and highlights. Lastly, I shaded the background with a very light grey tone to emphasize the hilights.
The subject of this drawing is picture of me. Thankfully, I was able to find a picture that doesn't look much like me. This project relates to my life because it gave me practice shading a face and drawing face shape (which I clearly need more help on). I think my artwork could be stronger if I did the following:
I made this reflection on the one I had to turn in because I couldn't get the original, but now, I found the original so it can be seen on top.
