The main idea that guided this artwork is that I wanted to continue to experiment with the idea of connection and how it relates to technology. I was on a walk with my siblings, and somehow the conversation turned to the colors of shiny blue wasps. They have a sleek aesthetic, and beautiful, oil-spill colors, but there is an ingrained sense of fear from looking at them. I wanted to incorporate this into my next sustained investigation.

I made this on my tablet.

I started by researching the way that wasps and microcircuits look. I used a bright red brush to highlight the structures that I wanted to bring into my next piece. Then, I used the eyedropper to select a palette that might be most effective for creating this reflective lighting. I experimented with the colors by using them to sketch a human face. Finally, I planned out my ideas for the composition.
