Perspective 2

The subject of this creation is a room with tiles, pillars, and many other things. I made this by starting with the shape of my back wall. I decided to make the back wall a triangle on top of a rectangle, then I drew the shape of the wall. From there, I added in the bed, sofa, rug, table, and shelf (which I did not have enough time to fill with books). Next, I added the tiles, pillars, light niches, and chairs. Lastly, I colored tiles and shadows in with ink and highlighted certain parts of the drawing with whiteout. Lastly, I added more depth by shading the drawing with a pencil. In this drawing, I used line, shape, texture, and value to show form. My project started out as a pencil sketch then it became a pen drawing then a pen drawing with hilights then a pen drawing with shadows and highlights.

When I started this I had the idea to create a room that looks old with modern things too. For example, I used pillars and a stone ceiling to make it look old and I used a tile floor and a couch to make it look modern. This project relates to my life because it gave me lots of practice drawing perspective and coming up with 3d objects from my imagination and putting them down on paper. If there was something I could improve it would be:

  • Better vertical lines (It looks worse in the picture but it's still not perfect)
  • Spent more time with the light niches
  • Made the pillars larger closer to the ground
  • Spent more time on the angles on the couch
  • Added books to the bookshelf
  • Always used a ruler
