I used this plant drawing to represent my past because I’ve had this plant since freshman year, and the plant nearly died a couple times when I was busy with school, but it has stayed alive and is starting to do better now, since I've had time to water it during the pandemic. I had to draw myself zoomed in. I was originally going to do my nose or lips because eyes are slightly overdone, but unfortunately, I was wearing a mask. This represents my future in a loose sense because I want to pursue a job in computer science. I had a difficult time getting the keys to look right, and I should’ve used a ruler. Overall though, I’m happy with the fact that I was able to do this much in 20 minutes.

I made all of these using pencils on standard paper. However, to fill in the laptop screen, I used a large graphite crayon, which was very helpful, and it sped up the process. It also enabled me to be faster and more expressive for some of the sections of leaves.

I used line and value to create texture and form. For each of these drawings, I began with a rough sketch, then I used a softer pencil to add in details and value. For next steps, I could use a ruler to clean up the computer, since the perspective is warped. I would finish shading in the leaves. I would add more darker values to my eye, and I would add the other eye, since I only filled up one half of the page. I could also show the hair and improve the shading in the eyeball.
