Class Collaboration

Artist statement:

I made an abstract drawing that was based on a small black and white section of a drawing. I made this by dividing both pictures into 4ths and sketching each square individually. I went in and sharpened the lines then I colored each color of black, white, and grey and colored them in with hues that would match the grey color if they did not have color. I used line and shape to show the drawing’s form. And I used color to show the drawing’s value. I used the colors black, pink, teal, and yellow because I think that this makes the colors pop.

I did this drawing twice, so I could make the lines more carefully because I did not spend much time on it. If I had the power to redo this artwork piece one more time I would divide the square into more shapes or be more careful with the coloring. This helped me improve my duplication skills. This might be a fun thing to try before drawing as sort of a warm-up.
