This is a drawing I did of Andes mints. I decided to create a light grey background that is reflective and gravely like the desk I drew it on. The work was made with pencil to make sure I have the size and shape correct, colored pencil to show shade and color, a white pencil to burnish without changing the shades, and a white gel pen to add highlights. I chose to draw this specific artwork because I love Andes mints and I thought the wrappers would be challenging to draw (which they were). I created this specific piece of artwork using line to show shape, color and value to show form, and texture to make it more realistic. Also, I used contrast to emphasise the shapes in the foreground, and I used a background, so the piece would look more real. To create a more interesting compositing I decided to use formal balance.
The meaning behind this artwork is that, while the piece did not turn out as well as I'd hoped, it was good practice. This project relates to my life because It was good practice burnishing with a white pencil. There is a lot I wish I did better on this piece. If I could, I would improve the following:
