Targeted Advertisement

Digital procreate
The story behind this drawing is that I wanted to express how targeted ads, which are often seen as just a way to see more interesting ads, are an infringement on personal privacy. This can be seen through the wires jutting out of her head. Additionally, I wanted to depict how corporations pretend to be friends with people as, what I find to be, a disturbing advertisement tactic. This connects to my life because I am aware of how much data companies store on people and how accurate these algorithms can be. Additionally, I was excited to find a way o use a brush that I hadn't previously had much luck with. The brush changes the originally selected value and diverges further based on how hard you press down with it. It's difficult to control, so I drew a lot of this with a layer that reduced the information I had to look at to only black and white values as I chose random colors. This allowed me to create something more dramatic than I could've managed otherwise.
I made this using procreate on my tablet.
I used color to show value, and I used line and value to construct the shapes and forms that make up this drawing. I used the contrast in the colors and values I selected to portray the artificial nature of this scene. Going forward, I might adjust the text so that it's neater. I may want to change the upper left text since, although I think it makes a strong point, it doesn't work as much within the context of this drawing.
