Bloom

Photography

10 X 14 (300 DPI)

The story behind this artwork is that over thanksgiving I got to see my Aunt's two tanks (saltwater and freshwater), and I took this photo. I thought it looked beautiful like it was an underwater flower in full bloom. This photograph relates to my life because I really enjoy taking photos and I don't often get the opportunity to take photos of something so beautiful.

This work was made using my phone's camera (I have a pixel 3). After I took the photo, I used my camera's editing tools, imported it to krita to edit it there, then I used my mac's editing tools.

I created this composition and color by lining up the picture so that the most colorful, detailed sections were on the most important spots. I got this detailed color by using a real world filter (a translucent piece of orange paper to cancel out the purple/blue lighting). Then, I increaced the saturation and sharpness (only slightly) to give the photograph depth. I don't think there are any next steps with this photograph, although, I may decide to draw or paint it eventually.
