Perspective 1

In this I will be describing the more detailed piece. This shows a large room viewed from a balcony. The room has a tiled floor and steps up to a fountain and large window. I made this using pencil to decide where everything should go and I started outlining in pen. I stopped because I realized I had made several large errors. Then, I started over drawing only rectangular prisms. When I drew this I used line and shape to show the form of the room. I decided against using texture because the majority of the objects are very far away. In this piece I tried to use the vanishing point to emphasise the sun through the large window. My project changed a lot over the time I spent on it. It started out as a vanishing point, I added a back wall, and from there I added a balcony, tiles, a fountain, and a chandelier. After that, I started penning in my lines.

The idea that is started from was to create a large grand room. To make the horizon line in the correct spot in the large room, I made a balcony. This project relates to my life because it was good practice drawing using perspective. Also, the majority of the time I draw from a reference on my computer or from real life, so making up a scene was very fun and good practice. There is a lot that bothers me about this particular drawing:

  • I should've used a ruler more
  • I should've sharted with lighter lines
  • I should've checked all of the perspective before I outlined it with pen
  • I should've finished outlining it with pen
