With this work, I was trying to express the positives and negatives of digital connection. I wanted to create lightning-like colors to evoke a digital feel. I used a tree-like structure to show the branching way that digital connections exist. I used rough lines and a sense of claustrophobia to show how the connections can be disjointed/warped. However, I wanted to also make a sense of unity and togetherness. Although the colors are harsh, they illuminate the dark background.

I made this on my tablet using the pencil and a custom paintbrush tool I made for myself.

Throughout the process of this, I revised my sketch to create a more eye-catching drawing. I researched the way that tree branches look from different angles and used that to compose my sketch. I experimented with different methods of doing the lighting, as well as different compositions. In this iteration of the drawing, I discovered how I could use color burn and color dodge options to create an improved lighting/color scheme.

Looking forward, I might add more detail and shading because, as much as I like the lighting and composition, it is missing the level of detail I normally like to have.
