Digital art (procreate on ipad)
The story behind this artwork is that recycling saves the Earth and organ donation saves lives. Both are taking something that has no use anymore to save life. The drawing shows a lake with lily pads, a clear reflection, mountains, fluffy clouds, and trees. This project relates to my life because this scene is based on the place I associate the most with nature. I've been visiting this pond--and nearby ski mountain Shawnee--for almost my whole life.
I made this using the drawing program Procreate and my ipad. This was my first longer drawing I've done with this program so far. I'm really enjoying how dynamic the brushes are, and I might try to make some from scratch. One feature that I've particularly enjoyed is the ability to shade on the side of the pencil, which creates a really realistic drawing experience. Additionally, I found an option to record a timelapse of the drawing, and it's really interesting to look back on.
I used tetradic colors primarily to create a cohesive drawing. I used an orange/yellow to show light peeking through the clouds, which gave the scene depth. I used lily pads to create a feeling of movement. Moving forward, I'm likely going to change the reflections in the water because I liked the white lines rather than the subtle white waves.
