The story behind my artwork is that the girl outside was reading for hours, and she didn't notice that the tide came up. The old clock is based off of a clock at my house which was made by my great grandfather in Philadelphia. Drawing it was especially fun because I don't often draw from life. This project relates to my life because I love the ocean and I love to read. This almost depicts me in elementary through middle school being so absorbed in a book I didn't notice anything around me.

I made this using just one brush in procreate on my ipad.

Originally, this was just going to be the clock. I was trying to experiment with color--the real clock is just dark colored wood. But, later in the process, I realized that this would make a very interesting part of a larger drawing. When I was testing it out, I made a very simplistic scene outside, but I decided it would be better to do a beach. I really wanted to use value to create depth, and I created lighting such that the two focal points were in sunlight. Some next steps might be to neaten up the window frame and the texture on the wall because they look more like afterthoughts than pieces of the artwork.
