What should I do if I'm behind on rent?

Published Page: Rent Resources

If you missed a rent payment, the most important first step is to communicate with us. The best way to do this is to email with information on your payment timeline. We do not accept late payment requests in anything but writing. We will not be able to postpone our legal procedure for collecting delinquent rent, but the owner of your property may be more amenable to an agreement down the road if you are proactive with your communication.

Our job at RPM is to make sure that you have a comfortable and peaceful home, but also to enforce your lease agreement.

We understand that there are extenuating circumstances that can lead to delinquent rent, so we encourage our residents to seek community resources and assistance from the following organizations:

While we're happy to accept emergency rent relief payments from these and similar organizations, please know that it is your responsibility as the tenant to initiate the communication with these organizations and follow through until the payments are made. RPM will not facilitate communication on your behalf. Occasionally, the organization you're working with may require RPM's authorization before making the payments - we can absolutely sign off/provide authorization where needed, but it'll be up to you to ensure that those forms get to us and are turned back into the organization you're working with.

REMINDER

Please note that even if we are coordinating with you on a payment plan, you will continue to receive texts and emails regarding rent collection. Please know that if you pay the balance owed following your agreed payment plan or on your rent due date, you will be okay. We will not begin the eviction process if you comply with the terms of your Rental Agreement.

We are here to help. Please reach out if you have any more questions.
