What is the Rentor Resident Benefits Package?

ResidentBenefitsPackage.RPM101.com

Property managers have different Resident Benefits Packages to entice residents to rent their properties and keep residents for long periods of time.  Rentor has a "Resident Benefits Package" program that is funded partially by owners, vendors, Manager, and partially by residents. If offered for the property, Applicants will have a chance to review Rentor's Resident Benefits Package and assess their share of the cost before being asked to execute a lease. This program evolves over time, but the resident’s cost will not change during the lease term. Contact Rentor for more information before you apply if you have questions. If available for property, Residents agree to participate in Rentor's Resident Benefits Package while under the Lease with Rentor and pay their share of the costs as identified prior to executing a lease or renewal. Resident releases and holds Rentor harmless for the performance of outside third-party vendors who assist Rentor in providing some of these services. Benefits may have restrictions. How do I utilize my Residents Benefits Package?

Credit Building Program

Why should I want my property manager to report my rent to the credit bureaus?

For most residents, rent is their largest monthly payment. You should be getting credit for paying the rent on time, improving your credit score. Rent is one of the fastest ways to increase your credit score, with an average increase above 40 points and some as high as 100 points.

This translates to thousands in savings for you, possibly tens of thousands. A higher credit score can result in lower interest rates for a loan (e.g. car, home), qualification for credit cards, higher limit on credit cards, and lower insurance rates. A higher credit score can even help you get a job, as it is seen as an element of your risk.

The benefits of the Credit Building Program

Can the Credit Building Program vendor, CredHub,  report past rental payments to improve my credit score?

Yes. CredHub can legally report up to 24 months of past rental payments for you.

Why hasn’t my credit score changed when I check it online?

Credit score websites such as Credit Karma and FreeCreditScore.com are delayed several weeks when obtaining new information. A credit report drawn directly from the credit bureaus will reflect new payment information within a few days.

I have never had a late payment, so why has my credit score dropped?

Since this is the first-time credit bureaus have seen payment history for your rent, they see it as a new debt you have taken on. Like buying a new house or car, your credit will see a small drop at first but will become higher than your initial score as you make on- time payments.
