Woodshop instructor, David Moulton and welding instructor, Ray Howell, took the following students on a plant tour of Ledwell in February. The students were first brought into their conference room where they watched an introduction video about Ledwell and their mission statement. Brad Stringer talked to the students about the opportunities offered by Ledwell and shared the day's agenda and instructions about the tour with them.
Mr. Stringer has worked at Ledwell for 31 years and is the Trailer Shop shop Supervisor. The students had headsets and they could hear about all the different sectors of the company as they walked through all the manufacturing shops of Ledwell. The students witnessed firsthand the job expectations and learned about what each shop produced each day, which included the machine shop, the many large paint booths, the parts warehouse, quality control, and the truck shop where they install water tanks, flatbeds, and dump beds, trailer shop shops where they built parts, dump beds, water tanks, and the feed body shop.
After the tour, the students gathered back in the conference room for a question-and-answer time. Everyone was treated to CiCi's pizza for lunch and all the dessert cinnamon rolls they could hold.
The students who attended this event were our Welding I and Construction Trade Students listed below:

In honor of the late James Wooten, also known as "JR.", our welding instructor, Mr. Ray Howell, and his amazing students personalized a welding booth with custom artwork pieces and decor that reflect JR's character and contributions.
James Wooten was an LE High School graduate, class of 2022. JR was killed in a motorcycle accident in May of 2024. JR loved everything about cars, bikes, and welding. He also enjoyed helping his community. During the summer of 2024, his family, friends, and community came together and held a car show at LE High School to gather school supplies for the Elementary campus and a second show at Harley Davidson of Texarkana was a few months later. All cash donations from both events were placed in the James "JR" Wooten Scholarship Foundation Fund to assist TWO deserving students from LE High School!
The scholarship is a ONE-TIME AWARD of $1,300 per student. One graduate applying for AUTOMOTIVE and one for WELDING. The DEADLINE for submission is APRIL 1ST, 2025. For more information, contact Jeanne Wooten - at (903) 280-5557 or Emily Middleton - at (501) 813-532
