Mr. Moulton's Wildlife class got to experience the nice weather on October 10th with a field trip to a local pond. This was the first outing for this school year and the girls gained some valuable knowledge.
"My students learned how to tie on their hooks and how to identify the fish that were caught," Moulton said, " and this was April's first fishing trip and her first catch. We had a great time."
Junior Rita Shreves sat down with us and gave us the 411 on the activity. "I haven't been fishing since I was a lot younger so this was not new to me but I knew I had a lot to learn, such as how to tie the hook to the line with a knot and the correct way to bait the hook with a worm. We've been learning all about fish in the classroom, especially how to notice the colors and characteristics of fish in our area. We used what we learned to identify the fish we saw and caught, Shreves said, "and we had a great time outside for that morning."
Senior April Martin caught a Brim using brown and green catch-and-release bait. She said she tried to find a good spot to catch fish and she enjoys learning about fishing from Mr. Moulton.
