We have several new faces this year and we are thankful for each and every one of them!

Samantha McAdams (Flanagan) teaches IPC and Biology and her classroom is located in the 100 building/East Campus/room 104. Even though this is her first year to actually teach, Ms. McAdams worked last year with the credit recovery department. She attended Arkansas High School then the University of Arkansas where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies. She first realized that teaching was for her when she was working as a teacher's aid. Her hobbies include gardening and playing with her dog. Mrs. Lindy, Mr. Blanco, and Mrs. Kimble have been most helpful as she transitions into full time instruction. "I guess the craziest thing I've ever done is Jumping through a school window last year."

Aaliyah Carson/Math Models and Biology
This is Ms. Aaliyah Carson's first year as a teacher and like a few other of our newbies, she is a former student- class of 2017. She instructs students daily with math models and biology and her room is located on west campus/9.
After graduation, Ms. Carson attended Texas A&M University/College Station, where she majored in university studies. Mrs. Denise Webb, Mrs. Mary Walker, and Ms. Ursula Johnson have been most helpful to her and she likes the family oriented atmosphere at the high school.
Ms. Carson enjoyes watching Netflix and scrolling through Tiktok in her free time. The craziest this she has ever done is jumping in a pool, fully clothed at two a.m. while in college. She has enjoyed her year so far and is looking forward to making more memories with our staff and students at LEHS.
Ms. Kayla Morrow is the new art instructor on West campus/room 24. She attended Arkansas High School, began her college career at Texarkana College, then onto Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas, where she majored in fine arts. Ms. Morrow had an idea while in high school that included teaching and upon completing her degree, she felt that teaching was in her future. In her leisure, time she enjoys painting and reading. Carl Brewer/Police Chief
The newest member of the LEISD police department is Chief Carl Brewer. He has been in law enforcement for the past 21 years and believes working here is a great opportunity to give back to the community. Officer Brewer graduated from New Boston High School and attended college at the University of North Texas in Denton. It was after graduating college that he decided to explore the criminal justice field. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, watching sports and traveling when he has the chance.
Officer Brewer comes to our district from TISD and plans on growing with our district as a school and community. “Everyone I have come in contact with has been most supportive and the craziest thing I’ve ever tried would have to be parasailing.”-Officer Brewer
Mrs. Alicia Price is the new academic advisor and her office is in the west campus office. She has previously taught for 3 years and knew she wanted to teach since she was in high school. She last taught at Atlanta High School, then went to Crossett, Arkansas and attended Texas A&M for college and majored in Business and Administration. In her leisure time, she attends her son’s football and basketball games.
Mrs. Price was excited to become a leopard since her husband graduated in 2002 from here and she likes the community and the friendly vibes at LEHS. The craziest thing she has ever done was handling a snake.

Amy Snyder/Education Diagnostics
Amy Snyder is the new Educational Diagnostician and her office is in the media center/library. Upon moving to Texarkana, she decided Liberty-Eylau was the place to work and the family friendly atmosphere was a plus. Ms. Snyder attended Avinger High School and then Texarkana A&M where she majored in Curium and Extraction. Before she decided to become an Educational Diagnostician, she was a Special Education Teacher. She has been teaching as an Educational Diagnostician for 5 years at Morris County Coop - Dangerfield, I.S.D.
In her leisure time, Ms. Synder takes care of her children who are two years apart-which is probably the craziest thing that she has ever done.
Ms. Erika Delk teaches U.S. History and World Geography and you can find her in room 5 on the west campus. This will be her sixth year teaching all together-the first time to work with high school students. She attended Texas High School, graduating in 2005 before attending Texas A&M University /College Station, where she majored in Agronomy (soil and crop science).
Both of Ms. Delk's parents are teachers as well as her sister, so it makes sense for her to feel at home in the educational realm. Ms. Delk previously worked with young people at the Bowie County Adult Probation Center where drug education was her specialty. "Liberty-Eylau is a kind and caring place to work and it's obvious the administration, teachers, and staff care about the future of all students in this district,” Mrs. Delk stated. Mrs. Armstrong has been most helpful and every staff member has been kind, understanding, and willing to lend a hand. Her hobbies include chasing waterfalls, traveling, reading books, and watching movies.
Mrs. Delk lived in the Netherlands for a year after graduating from college; began swimming in the second grade, which carried on until high school; she coached young swimmers and taught swimming lessons in the summer. Jennifer Ford/Junior-Senior Counselor
Mrs. Jennifer Ford is our new junior and senior counselor and her office in now in the library, across from Mrs. Byrd's room. She has worked as a counselor for almost seven years. She attended Grace Baptist High School in Kankakee, Illinois and pursued her college degree at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, where she majored in elementary education. Mrs. Ford has counseled students for almost seven years and she came to LEISD from Dumas High School.
Mrs. Ford’s favorite past time is taking care of her cows, now that she and her husband purchased a ranch in Simms, Texas. A shout out to fellow counselor, Doni Watson, who has helped her the most as the school year began. The craziest aspect of her life so far? " My cousin is in the NBA hall of fame."- Mrs. Jennifer Ford
Mr. William Thompson is one of the new assistant principals and you can find him on the east campus. He attended Arkansas High School and majored in general education at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. Mr. Thompson knew he wanted to be a teacher when he was in the 10th grade and has taught in the classroom for 13 years.
He comes to our district from Redwater ISD and is excite to make a difference at our school. The teachers that have helped him the most so far have been Mrs. Doni Watson, Mrs. Brenda Lenaway, and administrator Mr. Jeff Wright. In his leisure time, Mr. Thompson enjoys spending time with his family and watching Mavericks basketball. Parasailing is listed as the craziest thing he's done and he's looking forward to a great school year.

We have a new history teacher on the east campus, located in room 208 and his name is Mr. Zwirm (also known as Mr. Z). Many students may remember him since he has been a dedicated substitute teacher for the past two years. Mr. Z attended Alexander Hamilton Music Academy in Los Angeles and furthered his education at Texas A & M here in Texarkana. “I wanted to teach after subbing and seeing what the educational system was like.”
Mr. Z is a part-time pastor, loves music, music and gardening. He decided to come to Liberty-Eylau since there was an opening and he liked the energy here. Mrs. Armstrong has been most helpful so far this school year and he has a genuine interest in passing on knowledge to the next generation. One fun fact about Mr. Z? He has dressed up in medieval clothing and he enjoys the historical aspect of that time period.
Katelynn Page is the new geometry in room 106 on the east Campus/100 building and this is her first year as a teacher. She is an Arkansas High School graduate and she later attended Henderson State and Texas A&M where she majored in Business Administration and Central Management. Mr. Blanco, and Mrs. Kimble have been most helpful since she began in August. Ms. Morrow and Ms. McAdams are her close friends and have helped her transition into the educational realm.
Mrs. Page is a new mother and is excited to help her students be most successful in her classroom.

Ms. Rebecca Avery is our new Business English/English III teacher and you will see her on the West Campus in Room 15. This will be her first year teaching and she is ready to handle any obstacles that may come her way. She attended Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, Arkansas and decided on Henderson State University for college. Ms. Avery majored in Business Management/Marketing and it was in her final year when she realized that teaching was something she wanted to pursue upon receiving her degree.
So far this year, Mrs. Lindy has helped her the most, making her feels as comfortable as possible. In her leisure time, she likes to sleep, watch Netflix, craft, and hang out with her family and friends. "The craziest thing I've ever done would have to be the time I ate Ostrich."- Ms. Rebecca Avery
Sheila Hill is the new athletic secretary and you will find her in the field house- first person on the right as you walk in the building. Mrs. Hill was an Atlanta Rabbit (high school) and attended Texarkana College where she majored in Computer Science and she has always been passionate about working with computers.
Mrs. Hill wanted a change in her career and it lead her to our district. The friendly staff has been wonderful so far and she is looking forward to a great school year. Her favorite hobbies include, shopping, traveling, and hanging out with her family. She says the craziest thing she has ever done would be getting married.

Kimberly Griffith teaches Resource English and has been in field of education for 10 plus years now. She is located in room 26 on the west campus and she is looking forward to a great school year. Mrs. Griffith attended LeFlore Public High School, then went onto North Eastern State University, where she studied Elementary Education.
In her leisure time, she enjoys archery and likes to float on the river. Her father was a graduate of LEHS, so it's been an easy transition to our campus. Ms. Richert has been there for her when she needed a helping hand. Craziest thing she's done? “I had a flat tire and changed it on the side of the highway in the middle of Dallas traffic---alone.”-Mrs. Kimberly Griffith
Mr. Estell is a familiar face to many teachers on the high school campus since he was the valedictorian of the 2015 graduating class/LEHS. He teaches Algebra 1, Algebra II and transition to College math and you can find him on the west campus in room 13.
After leaving Texarkana, Mr. Estell attended the University of Texas/Austin where he majored in Math and he last taught at John Paul II High School.
In his leisure time, Mr. Estell likes to read, play video games, and travel. Since Liberty-Eylau was where his educational journey began and there was an opening for a math instructor, he decided to head this way. We are very glad he did!

Daniel Herbert/Welding
Mr. Daniel Herbert (pronounced A-bear) is the new welding teacher and you can find him working in the CTE building/room 310 or in the welding shops. He graduated from Jeanerette High School (Go Tigers!) in Louisiana and spent the next few years acquiring his associate's degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College, his bachelor's from Louisiana State University and his master's from the University of North Alabama, where he majored in Agricultural, Business and Administration. Mr. Herbert has been teaching for over 20 years and prior to coming here, he instructed students in Mississippi/Southwest.
In his leisure time, Mr. Herbert enjoys hiking, traveling and loves to be adventurous. Mr. Howell, Mr. Mitchell, and Mr. Fellers have all been great resources as the new school year began. The craziest thing he has ever done was skydiving.
Mr. Suggitt may be new this 2021-22 school year but he is definitely not new to our district. Graduating from Liberty-Eylau in 2012, Mr. Suggitt has returned to give back to his community. He served four years in the Army (talk to him sometime for some interesting stories and thank you for your dedication to our country!), married and began his family shortly after. Mr. Suggitt is the father of two sons, ages 2 and 4 and in his leisure time, he loves playing video games with them and doing anything outdoors. He attend Texas A & M/Texarkana, receiving a degree in history with a minor in psychology and decided to ‘come back home’ as he starts his career in education. Mr. Suggitt is located on the west campus/room 11 and says that Mrs. Petton and Principal Kiaundra Walker have been most helpful as he enters the teaching realm. Ms. Miranda Powell is the new teacher for Earth and Space, Physics CP, and Forensics and she is located on the west campus/room 16. She is a Texas High School graduate and received her BA in science and criminal justice from Texas A & M/Texarkana.
Ms. Powell likes the unity on this campus and Mrs. Kimble has been most helpful since it was mid-September when she actually began teaching. "I hope to build a better curriculum for the three college prep classes that I am teaching this year," Ms. Powell said. In her free time, she likes to watch football, spend time with friends and family. The craziest experience she has had is that she got to throw a penny in the Trevi fountain in Rome, Italy.
Ms. Johnson is new to our campus, but not new to the district. She has worked for the past eight years at the middle school and decided to join us this year by heading up the ISS department, located in room 21. Ms. Johnson attended Redwater High School and received her degree from Texas A & M Texarkana/History major. “It was my freshman year in high school that I realized teaching was for me,” Ms. Johnson said, “I have been with the district for several years and came to coach with one of my friends. I love LEISD!”
Ms. Johnson comes to our campus from the middle school, where she has taught for the pas eight years and before that, she worked at Ashdown High School. “My para-professional Emily Perry has been most helpful since school began,” Johnson said, “and now, I am getting to see the ‘grown up” version of my former students- it’s pretty awesome.” The craziest thing Ms. Johnson has ever done is ziplining in Arenal, Costa Rica this past summer. Surprisingly, she is afraid of heights!

Kimberly Griffith teaches Resource English, and her room is located on West Campus in room 26. Ms. Griffith has been teaching for 10+ years. She attended high school at LeFlore Public School, then later went to North Eastern State University where she studied Elementary Education. Ms. Regina Estrada is the new Math models teacher as well as the volleyball, basketball, and track coach. You can find her obviously in the Rader Dome (coaching) and in room 19 on west campus for her math classes. Ms. Estrada graduated from Flatonia High School and Texas A & M in Texarkana, where she majored in mathematics.
She knew that teaching was in her future since the 3rd grade and this is her sixth year of working with high school students. In Ms. Estrada's free time, she enjoys watching movies, painting and baking.

Amanda Cummings /Geometry, Algebra
Ms. Amanda Cummings is our new special education Math teacher(Geometry & Algebra) and she will lend a hand as an assistant volleyball and softball coach. When she's not in the Rader Dome, she can be found in room 7 on the west campus.
Ms. Cumming has been in the public education field for six years and taught at a private school for nine. She graduated from Alvin Community College with an associate's degree in Early Childhood Development and received a bachelor's degree in Middle School Education from the University of Houston/Clearlake. Ms. Cummings is currently working on her master's degree in curriculum and intrusion/special education. She comes to us from Texas Middle School and is looking forward to joining the LE family.
Ms. Cummings knew she wanted to teach when she was working on her Early Childhood development associate degree in order to take over a family owned childcare center. She likes to spend time with her family, enjoys fishing, swimming, reading and watching movies. Ms. Maida has been her go to person when she needs to ask a question. Ms. Taqoya Monds is the new biology teacher (she also coaches volleyball, basketball, and track) and she can be found on the east campus in room 203, if she's not in the Rader Dome. She graduated from Hugo High School in Hugo, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University, where she majored in Biological Sciences.
She comes to us from North Lamar Independent School District in Paris, Texas and this will be her 10th year working with high school students/athletes. Ms. Monds prayed to God when the opportunity presented itself for her to work in our district and God confirmed it multiple times. She says she loves the family atmosphere of the school and the interconnectedness of the surrounding community
Coach Martin Bryant and his family helped she and her family transition to the Texarkana area, and Coach Alex Harris and his wife offered her a guest room in their house during in-service so she wouldn't have to drive back and forth.
In her free time, she enjoys watching romantic comedies, listening to music, and spending time outside with her family riding bikes or cooking. Ms. Monds is super excited for the basketball season to begin and she believes the athletes in this program will do great things. "The craziest thing I've ever done? Jeremy Scott is the newest member of the band department and he has nothing but good things to say about everyone who's associated with the high school band. Mr. Scott graduated from Airline High School in Bossier City and attended Louisiana Tech where he majored in music.
His love for music began in 2010 and his free time is spent watching movies and composing music. "The craziest thing I have ever done is meet Beyoncé."- Jeremy Scott
Ms. Dana Walker is an LE alumni from the 1999 graduating class and worked in our district as a pre-k teacher a few years ago. She has been a specialist for TISD and an assistant principal at Dekalb ISD/Elementary. Ms. Walker's room is located on the west campus (room 8) and she instructs students in Algebra I and Math Models. She received a bachelor's degree in early childhood and obtained a Masters in educational administration/supervision. Ms. Walker attended the University of Arkansas/Fayetteville and Southern Arkansas University.
In her spare time, Ms. Walker (one of three Ms. Walkers on our campus this year!) loves spending time with her family, attending sporting events and traveling. An interesting fact about her: she is a roller coaster enthusiast. As a matter of fact, Ms. Walker rode the Stratosphere roller coaster in Las Vegas, Nevada- this being one of the craziest things she's ever done. "I love the Leopards!"- Ms. Dana Walker

Dr. Roshea Phillips/Main Principal
Dr. Roshea Phillips is the principal (main person in charge) and came to our district from Clarksville ISD, where she was principal for the previous three years. She has been in the educational realm for the past 27 years and most of that time was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as a teacher and an assistant principal.
Dr. Phillips graduated from Lanier High School/Georgia and attended Alabama State University, Texas Tech University and Amberton University in Garland, Texas, where she majored in school counseling. She has taught science, coached volleyball, basketball, track and served as a counselor before becoming a principal.
Everyone has been most helpful as she began working this summer and she is excited to lend her expertise to our district. Craziest thing she has done? "I jumped off an eleven-story building while ziplining!"-Dr. Phillips
Mrs. Kiaundra Walker is the assistant principal in the west campus office and has been in the educational realm for 15 years. She attended New Boston High School and graduated from the University of Houston/ D1, with a Master's in education.
Mrs. Walker spends time caring for kids in her free time and she also supports youth programs. She was an educator at Westlawn Elementary before coming to our district and she enjoys working with the older students at this point in time. Coach Gomez, Mary Walker (Bomb.com) have been the most helpful at this point in time but she appreciates everyone's assistance as the new school year began.

Emily Washington/ Counseling
Ms. Emily Washington enters the school year this month and she will be a great asset to our counseling department (actual title: Student Support Counselor). Her office is located in the west campus office area and her room is next to Mrs. Price's office. Ms. Washington attended Pleasant Grove High School, yet graduated from Eastern Hills High in Fort Worth, Texas and received her degree in health/human science from Prairie View A & M University." She was previously employed at the Bi-State Juctice Building in the probation department.
The individuals who have been most supportive and helpful to Ms. Washington are Mrs. Yolanda Johnson, Mrs. Pashion Roberson, Dr. Phillips, Mrs. Kiaundra Walker and Mr. William Thompson and she believes Liberty-Eylau has so many people who are willing to lend a helping hand.
In her spare time, Ms. Washington enjoys cooking and spending time with family. "I would like students to know I was hired to be a listening ear and my door is always open- I am simply an email away!"- Ms. Washington
Tra Carson/Coaching
We have another Liberty-Eylau graduate (class of 2011) that decided to return home in order to make a difference on our campus. Latravion Carson (aka Tra or Coach Carson) can be found working with students in the east gym, Rader Dome or in the fieldhouse.
He started his college career at the University of Oregon (Ducks) and played for three seasons at Texas A&M/College Station, where he majored in recreation, parks, and tourism sciences. That was only the beginning! Carson played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, which allowed him to experience many aspects of our country while doing what he did best...play football.
Mr. Alex Harris has been most helpful to Coach Carson as he transitions into the educational realm. He plans on making an impact at the school where his love of football all began. We are glad he's back!
