Instructor: Kimberly Battle
This is the first year for this particular program on our campus and it's been a smooth start for a positive avenue of success.
ROTC stands for Reserve Officer Training Corp and our mission is to help promote leadership, self-discipline, self-control, while building confidence as an individual and as a group.
Our goal is for the students to finish the program as a different person with a better mindset that will help propel them forward as positive, and productive men and women in society. By being enrolled in this program our students will have access to a number of opportunities, such as but not limited to, scholarships, internships and mentorships.
In the program, we will work on not only our physical fitness but our mental fitness as well. We are a team and I always push for togetherness. Once our students receive their uniforms, I hope they wear them with honor and pride not only in themselves, but our program and the school as well. My goal is for our program here at Liberty-Eylau to one day be competing in the ROTC competitions that are held.
As a retired Navy Chief, being a ROTC instructor has always been a dream of mine, I have a passion for people, especially children, and this position allows me to give back not only to the school but also to the community.
My hope is for my students to be successful inside as well as outside the classroom. I want them to excel at whatever they do and to believe that anything they put their minds to they can achieve! I want to support my students not only in our classroom, but in the things that matter to them as well-such as their extracurricular activities. I intend to do my best to be there and support them! I want to make a difference in each of my students' lives but if I only touch one--that’s still a blessing.
I remind students that nothing is impossible to achieve, they must believe in themselves, set goals, stay focused, work hard, push forward, and never stop; even if they stumble and fall, they should get up, dust themselves off, stand tall, have faith and know they are important.
Team building is imperative because it takes all of us in the program with the support from the school, parents, staff , students, and community. It is my duty to give the students my best daily! It is important as a leader that I set the tone, and bring motivation and positivity everyday because it is vital.
This program has made me better for myself, my students, and my family. I love my students as if they were my own and I’m so proud of how far they have come in such a short amount of time. I have a passion for this program and I am super excited to see what lies ahead because the BEST is yet to come!- Chief Battle
