Mrs. Brown's Livestock class and Principles of Ag classes learned all about making butter!! The class has been researching goat and cow dairies to how they are similar and different and identifying products they each make.
"My students learned it takes a lot more work than what they thought," instructor Mrs. Brown said, "and as we ended our dairy unit lessons, students enjoyed different dairy products such as: ice cream, cheese, yogurt, and milk."
On the morning of the 29th, we began by hitting a rocky bank along a bridge, which was the entrance to a creek called “Tranquility Creek”. Within a few minutes, I had picked up two sizeable bass on a topwater buzz bait, as well as another on a willow lead spinnerbait. We then picked up more fish half an hour later on a secondary point, using a fluke and swim jig. Soon afterwards, we picked up our last fish frogging in an extremely dense and large field of immature lily pads, hyacinth, and duckweed. This fish was very small, but we, luckily, kept the area in mind.
The next morning (the day of the tournament) we followed the same path, but produced no fish initially. We then decided to try a small patch of hyacinth. James Crane burned a spinnerbait near the top of this and produced a 6.11 pound bass, both his PB and our largest fish for both the day and in any tournament. He then caught a smaller fish (a little under 2 pounds) soon after.
We headed back into the field of vegetation that we attempted to fish the previous day with renewed hope. After half an hour of misses and strikes on a black popping frog, I produced a 3 pound bass. A few casts after, I produced a 4 pound bass as well. With around 15 pounds of fish in the boat, we knew we did pretty well. The rest of the day, we could not find our fifth weighing fish. At 1:50pm, ten minutes before the tournament ended, we picked up a 1 1/2lb bass on a lipless crankbait. We rushed to the weigh in with a weight of 15.69 pounds.
We held first place for a while before dropping to, and ultimately placing, second place in the 2024 Toledo Bend North tournament for Ultimate High School Bass Fishing
