The word is out!
Our campus has been without LETV for many years but not anymore.
If you’ve seen the student videos lately that showcase our weekly announcements, you may not know who is ‘behind’ the video camera.
Ronald Makaramba is the newest member of our high school staff and you can find him in the CTE/300 building on the east campus. Another interesting fact about Mr. M? He is the new soccer coach as well and he is very excited to get that program growing. If any students are interested in soccer, Mr. Makaramba is the person to talk to.
Makaramba has been in the media business for five years now and we are thankful he decided to join the LE team. He teaches Audio and Visual Practicum in addition to getting LETV up and running.
Let’s see where he’s from and his educational background.
Born in Dar Es Salaam,Tanzania/1994, Makarramba attended high school at Academic International Secondary School in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. His college career consisted of the following colleges-Manchester International College in England; Lassen Community College in Susanville, California, and Texas A&M Texarkana.
Makaramba says that teaching chose him since he had been in education without realizing it while coaching for the Texarkana Soccer Association two years. “I love working with high school students so far,” Makaramba said.
He played semi-professional soccer for three years with Arkansas Wolves Soccer Club in Little Rock, Arkansas and was a director at Texarkana Gameday.
Alex Harris and Mrs. Linda Block have been most helpful to him since school began and he is pleased to be a part of the LE family.

More about Mr. Makaramba
When Ronald Makaramba left his native Tanzania to play soccer in Manchester, England he had no idea where his travels might take him. He played club soccer there while finishing his high-school diploma before heading off to Susanville, California to play soccer for Lassen Community College. His college coach in California knew a head coach by the name of Don Koontz, who happened to be the inaugural soccer coach at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The west coast coach called his Texas-based buddy, and Ronald’s course was set for the Lone Star State.
Ronald competed for the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles while earning his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. During his time as a communications student Ronald became more and more interested in broadcast and video production. So much so that he eventually got a job shooting freelance video work for Texarkana Gameday, the upstart media company that focused heavily on local high-school sports. Ronald would eventually go on to work for Texarkana Gameday on a full-time basis for the better part of two years.
After graduation Ronald continued his work for Texarkana Gameday and begam to substitute teach. A connection he had made through an A&M-Texarkana mentorship program he belonged to (PATH- Personal Achievement Through Help) allowed him to start doing public service announcement work for a local school district. From there, it didn’t take long for the district to notice Ronald’s talent.
Ronald has accepted the Men’s Soccer Head Coach job at Liberty Eylau High School, where he is also tasked with restarting the school’s television production program (LETV) which has been dormant for several years. “I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Makaramba. “I look forward to coaching the soccer team, but also to getting to share my passion for video production with the students at Liberty Eylau.”
Ronald is Married to Jordyn Makenzy Cook, who he met while at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Jordyn is a 2020 TAMUT graduate who teaches pre-k at Hooks ISD. The two have a 13-month-old son, Malakhi Reed Makaramba.
