I will be turning 50 this year. I have been teaching Cosmetology for 20+ years, I love fashion and completed my associate of arts in fashion merchandise marketing and management in 2024, and currently working toward my master's in psychology and forensic science. I fostered for 8 years and have two grandchildren and one daughter, age 28.

What makes you a unique teacher?
I am well-rounded and extremely creative.
What is your teaching philosophy?
You only receive what you're open to receiving. Stay open.
What motivates you?
My grandchildren motivate me to keep trying. I want them to tell great stories about me when they are adults.
Out of curiosity, what type of student were you in high school?
Athletic and creative.
Tell me something about yourself that most people don't know:
I love to fish.
In your opinion, what is the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
Seeing students prevail after leaving and also hearing them tell stories about their journey.
Tell us about one of your own teachers who made an impression on you.
My cosmetology teacher paid for me to become an instructor she saw it in me before I could.
How do you want your students to remember you?
Knowledgable. I'm stern but worth it.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Creating the Buy-in.

This field totally changed my perspective on who I thought I was and would become.

Tell us about yourself if you want to:
I was born and raised in Central America, in the beautiful country of Panama. I attended elementary and middle school in the Canal Zone area and went to DOD's schools where I learned English. My family and I moved to Seoul, South Korea where I finished my high school years. I earned my Associate degree in Early Childhood because I knew I loved working with children. I obtained my Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M- Texarkana. Shortly after I began working in child care, after school programs in the local stchools and later on pursue my teaching career.
What subject do you teach?
I teach Spanish and Marketing courses.
What makes you a unique teacher?
My sense of humor in viewing life and my students. I am out going and positive no matter the situation that I am in. I am patience, I can adapt to changes and accept each of my students no matter their back ground needs .
What is your teaching philosophy?
I always want each student to leave my class learning something no matter how big or small it may be. I always want my students to try before they tell me they can't. How can you say "you can't" if you haven't tried first?
What motivates you?
My household and students. They always keep me laughing even when I am stressed about something. They find a way to put a smile on my face.
Out of curiosity, what type of student were you in high school?
I was super outgoing, thoughtful, generous, I was in Band, and I played soccer.
Tell me something about yourself that most people don't know:
I love to dance and cook
In your opinion, what is the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
Seeing my students walk across the stage to reviceve their diplomas is my most satisfaction as a teacher and then having them come by years after to say hello and tell me about they adult life puts a huge smile on my face.
Tell us about one of your own teachers who made an impression on you.
My Early Childhood teacher always told me to believe in myself and
always give it my all no matter if the end results wasn't what I had expected.
How do you want your students to remember you?
Someone who always showed them love and believe in their potentials.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Adjesting every student's needs and providing both helpful and engaging activities so that everyone can learn at their own pace.
Any final thoughts?
I love teaching but, I love mostly when students are learning and having fun.

I am married with 2 daughters. I love to travel. I have been to 34 states and Jamaica. I also love to read in my spare time.

What makes you a unique teacher?
I am real with my students and I don't lie to them. I teach them something every day. It may be a life lesson or science, but we learn useful things so you don't die today.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Everyone can learn how to be a productive adult. Maybe School isn't your "thing," but I can teach you how to survive and thrive.
What motivates you?
The best part of my job is when current or former students tell me about their accomplishments and how I helped them achieve their goals.
Out of curiosity, what type of student were you in high school?
Freshman year, I was awful. Almost failed science and Spanish. By senior year, I was a "B' student.
Tell me something about yourself that most people don't know:
I built my own house. Graduated 88th out of about 140.
In your opinion, what is the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
Former and current students telling me about their accomplishments.
Tell us about one of your own teachers who made an impression on you.
My junior English teacher, Mr. Patrick Henry, was the best. Imagine Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society. He treated us with respect.
How do you want your students to remember you?
As someone who cared about them as a person, not their grades. I want them to learn about life and being a happy, healthy person.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Student and parent apathy. Just try. That's half of the battle. I can help you if you meet me halfway.

"I’m originally from Atlanta, Texas, and graduated from AHS in 1994. I’m married to my husband, Trent, and we have three sons—Trenton, Carson, and Jackson—along with our dog, Broomer. I love attending college sporting events and visiting all of my kids at Texas A&M in College Station."

What makes you a unique teacher?
"I love that each day brings the chance to connect with students you'll remember for a lifetime. Sharing laughs with them and seeing them engage in what they love at school truly fills my heart. I also cherish the fact that no two days are ever the same."
What is your teaching philosophy?
"I believe that learning should happen in a variety of ways—through hands-on activities, visuals, and reading—all of which play an important role. When students feel safe and trust their teacher, they’re more willing to engage and put in the effort. Building those meaningful connections is one of my top priorities."
What motivates you?
"It's definitely not about the money! What truly motivates me is the support from fellow staff, the sense of camaraderie we share, and most importantly, the students I teach. Making a positive impact in their lives is what drives me every day."
Out of curiosity, what type of student were you in high school?
"I was an A/B student who enjoyed extracurriculars like tennis and varsity cheerleading. I was a social butterfly who loved spending weekends out with friends and making the most of my high school experience."

"I am scared of chainsaws and snakes."
In your opinion, what is the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
"Seeing students walk in each day excited to share what’s happening in their lives is one of the best parts of the job."

"Mrs. Nard has been an incredible blessing in my life. She’s my best friend, and her positive energy and genuine love for others are truly contagious. We’re always laughing together, and she brings so much joy and fun to our work.
How do you want your students to remember you?
"I hope they remember how deeply I cared for them as individuals and carry with them the courage and confidence to pursue their dreams."
What is the most challenging part of your job?
"The constant changes to STAAR/EOC testing create ongoing challenges for teachers."
