As the school year comes to an end, there's so much to do and complete before everyone leaves for the summer. Emotions are high, many are stressed, yet finally, the day comes when the campus is empty and only a certain individuals are in the hallways for the next few months.
We now turn our attention to Mrs. Blalock, Mr. Burden and Mr. Thompson, since all three are retiring and will begin the next phase of their lives.
Impressive, exciting, yet surreal and the entire Leopard faculty and staff couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments in life and especially within our district.
It's not good-bye.......it's see you later!!
Ms. Blalock has been with our district for 21 years and has seen a lot of changes in administration and testing content, yet she was happy to be a part of it all.
Ms. Blalock got the 'calling' to be an educator while helping with a 5th grade class many years ago. She takes great pride in teaching and helping students and knows that teaching all these years has kept her young.
"There is no better moment in a teacher's career than when 'the light bulb lights up' and a student understands what is being presented. I am looking forward to retirement and traveling to Nashville, Tennessee to be with family. I truly loved working with this district the past few years and will miss everyone very much- especially the students."- Mrs. Blalock
Thank you, Mrs. Blalock! We will miss you!
Mr. Burden has given 30 years in education overall-27 years in Texas and 3 in
Arkansas; however, only spent 7 years at LEISD. He originally wanted to pursue a business career, but later decided education was what he’d do. He believes the most rewarding part of working with education is enforcing students to go on with their lives, and coming back having shown successfulness.
Technology has advanced throughout the years Mr. Burden has been in the education realm, rapidly expanding over time. Although making it through Covid was a memorable challenge for him, he considers himself to have greatly accomplished helping and assisting others.
His plans for the future consist of retiring in Texas and working in Arkansas for something new. After many enjoyable years of working at this district, he claims he will in fact miss the people he worked with at Liberty-Eylau High School.

Superintendent
Mr. Thompson has spent 32 years in education and 14 of those have been with our district.
"Having a strong mentor that encouraged me to become an educator early in my career was life changing for me. I've experienced many changes over the past 10-15 years and I would have to say the increase of technology has been the most noticeable difference in the way we work and teach.
My greatest accomplishment is raising our own children in this district who are now serving as educators. Every year in education is filled with so many memorable moments and I can name some but would most likely leave some out.
Being around students will be something I will miss the most. It's been a very rewarding career field and I plan on traveling and spending time with our grandchildren once I do retire."
