Mercedes Nard is a new to our district and her room is located in west campus Art building, where she teaches Spanish. This is her second year of teaching after attending Texas A&M/Texarkana College University, where she majored in Child Development/General Studies. She went to high school in Seoul, South Korea and she knew she wanted to teach for as long as she could remember. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, playing with her baby son, going to church, eating out, dancing to Spanish music, traveling, attending art expos, cooking, as well as playing the piano and guitar. Ms. Nard came to Liberty Eylau High School to get a change of atmosphere and to have a fresh start so she could branch out from her comfort zone. She last taught in the Texarkana Independent School District in Creative Movement. So far, she likes that the campus is small as well as the staff and children. The particular staff she has had a pleasure of meeting and have assisted her so far are Mr. Fumey, Mrs. Yarber, Ms. Tomeka Block, Mrs. Singleton, Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Goff, Mrs. Byrd, Mrs. Henderson, Mr. Smith, Mr. Alexander, Mrs. Womack.

Dewaski Davis is new to our district, works with our athletes at the high school and manages the Middle School ISS program. He has been teaching and coaching for almost 29 years. Coach Davis attended high school in Queen City and college at East Texas State University/Commerce, where he majored in physical education. His hobbies include spending time with his family, lifting weights, and playing with his grandchildren. Coach Davis decided to work at Liberty-Eylau because he coached against us and knew it would be a great place to work. Before coming here, Mr. Davis worked in the Clarksville ISD. So far, his favorite part of LE is how friendly the staff and children are.

Janet Lannom is a new teacher to our district, she teaches math on West Campus and she is starting her 31st year as an educator. Mrs. Lannom attended Pottsboro High School and went to college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma and Texas A&M University/Texarkana and Texarkana College. Ms. Lannom knew she wanted to teach when forced to take college algebra and her career in math was initiated. She was going to be an accountant, but then decided to take a different direction and ended up majoring in math and computer science in college. Her hobbies includes spending as much time as she can with her two boys and their families. Her two grandsons get off the school bus at her house in the afternoon during the school year, allowing for more quality time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Lannom "goes to town" on Saturdays and eats lunch with her best friend Shelly Chapman- something she enjoys Ms. Lannom chose LEHS because she wanted a change and she really liked the administrators as well at the ethics of the school. She comes to us from Redwater ISD, where she instructed students in business classes and computer science. So far, the students and the staff have been welcoming to her, especially Kyle Krobot, Krichia Tennyson, Julie Byrd, Mrs. Mary Walker, Mrs. Womack, Mr. Alexander, Mr. Smith, and the Tech Department.

Fernando Fumey may be new to our district but he has been teaching for two years and comes to us from Texas Middle School. His Spanish classroom is in the Art building on west campus. Mr. Fumey attended high school and college in Peru, went to college in Texas and knew he wanted to teach when he completed his college degree. In his leisure time, he enjoys photography and traveling. Mrs. Yarber and Mr. Smith have been most helpful as he made the transition from another district.

Ben Ahrens is one of the newest coaches for the 2019-20 school year has been in the education field for eleven years. He attended high school at Cuero High School and college at Sul Ross State University in Apline, Texas, where he majored in Kinesiology and sports science. He knew he wanted to teach when he was a junior in high school and in his free time he likes to play golf and spend time with his daughter. He came to LEHS because he believes we have an amazing school district and is thankful for the opportunity to coach here while making an impact on young athletes. He last taught at Burk Burnett High School. He says that the school pride is great and every student is willing to improve. He likes the kids most so far at LE and coach King has been a big help to him so far.

Martin Bryant is a new coach here at our district! He coaches football and track and has been teaching for sixteen years. He attended high school in Sulphur Springs and went to college at Ouachita Baptist where he majored in History and Principals of Physical Education. Coach Bryant likes to fish and golf in his free time and it was in his sophomore year of high school when knew he wanted to teach. He came to LEHS because it was an exciting opportunity for him to be at a new school district. Coach Bryant previously taught/coached at North Lamar ISD. He claims the differences and similarities are not an issue and that "kids are kids." So far he likes the family atmosphere at LEHS. A big thank you to Coach Harmon for all his help so far this school year.
