Construction began in late 2021 on Texarkana’s Panda Express and the grand opening was October 24th, 2022.
Located on St. Michael’s Drive between Red Lobster and Cracker Barrel, this restaurant seems to be a hit so far.
If you’re tired of hamburgers and hungry for good Chinese food without the fanfare, head to Panda Express. The dining area is a little small but the buffet style food offerings were decent. The atmosphere was pleasant and the employees were dressed in modern uniforms with visor hats.
If you are in a hurry and want to avoid the whole dine-in experience, Panda Express offers to-go meals via the drive through.
The orange chicken is worth the trip but don’t expect to leave without paying at least $10 for any meal or combo. They offer teriyaki chicken, honey walnut shrimp, broccoli beef, egg rolls and won tons. Panda Express does offer some of the tastiest Chinese food for customers in a hurry.
History of Panda Express:
How did Panda Express begin? The Panda Restaurant Group was founded in 1973 by Andrew Cherng and his father, Ming-Tsai Cherng. Their first restaurant chain they opened up is the Panda Inn in Pasadena, California. This was more formal, sit-down dining, contrasting the fastfood nature of Panda Express. The restaurants are also only located in California.
In 1982, Peggy Cherng, Andrew's wife, joined her husband in the restaurant business. In 1983, through their connections with then-UCLA football coach Terry Donahue, the manager of Glendale Galleria invited them to make a fastfood version of Panda Inn for the mall. Since then, Panda Express has spread all over the United States, and even have restaurants in Mexico, Canada, South Korea, and United Arab Emirates.
