Just a Girl and her Horse
One student's hobby
Story by: Cindy Thompson/Newspaper advisor
I've had the pleasure of teaching many students over my 25 years with our district and it's been a wonderful ride. Our students are involved in many activities provided on our campus (sports, clubs/organizations, etc.), yet we seem to overlook the young people who have hobbies and interests outside of the school realm that most individuals never know about.
Sophomore Elizabeth Kvarda is in this category. I sat down with her recently and was amazed at her talents and abilities, and I wanted to share her passion for horses with others.
First, let me introduce Elizabeth and tell you a little more about her. She has two older sisters (Makenzie/2024 LE graduate and Olivia/senior/cheerleader) and two younger sisters. Elisabeth has a sense of humor and enjoys being around people. She got her first animal (Quarter horse) at age 11, but has recently found a new interest in taking pictures and videos of her time with Ruby.
Her family raises/works cattle on their farm so Elizabeth spends many hours in the outdoors. She enjoys taking care of Ruby, riding her, and photographing their afternoons together. I was amazed at the quality of images she had on her phone and was astonished at how she does the filming/taking pictures by herself.
"I began watching movies of horses when I was 8-10 years of age and now, I enjoy making my own videos. It can get challenging and frustrating at times, but being with my horse is relaxing and fun."- Elizabeth Kvarda
