Learning to code can help students develop high level problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Writing code encourages students to be both consumers of technology as well as creators. In this session you will learn how to engage students in coding using various free resources like Code.org and Scratch.

Scratch -- web -- To run Scratch 2, you need a relatively recent web browser (Chrome 35 or later, Firefox 31 or later, or Internet Explorer 9 or later) with Adobe Flash Player version 10.2 or later installed.

I. Why teach coding? (5 minutes)

II.How can coding be used across the curriculum. (10 mins)

III. Learn about Code.org and how to set up classes and manage students. Explore lessons (25 mins)

IV. Learn Scratch.mit.edu (Explore lessons and resources (25mins)
