LETTERS TO TEACHER OMAR CURRIE IN APPRECIATION

LETTERS WERE FIRST WRITTEN IN ENGLISH AND THEN IN CATALAN OR SPANISH

RAQUEL:

Dear Lord Currie. I have found a very good example that tell this story of the King and the King, since we are all equal and we have to respect the decision of the other. You've done very well in telling this story because it explains the differences that people have, not all teachers have fixed as well and that you have to thank.

Thank you for everything. Of Raquel Institute Serrat i Bonastre.

Estimat senyor Currie.

Raquel

LAURA:

hello my name is Laura, I speak from Spain Mr. Currie, and I would like to congratulate you on your great act of courage he had in college, I found something very noble of you because society does not all come to accept sexual condition some people, my thinking is not like can get to see so different from those of another condition, just because they like the same sex or want to change sex after all we are all equal about with more and others with minuses, all we would have to accept all those people who like the same sex or anything else, are people like us and we do not discriminate on their tastes do not deserve that. Since some children are afraid to confront their sexuality so that you can get to do the things bullyng or more, no one deserves to go through those things as some by so much pressure that falls on them just trying to commit suicide. apart my opinion on homosexuality and focusing on your great act enorgulleze I know there are still people as noble to stand up well to other people and open their eyes to other children about the reality with a story and teach that bypasses nothing by having different sexual tastes you're like you, like you like what you like others and do not deserve contempt no difference. Congratulations again for your great act of courage, greetings from Spain.

RACHEL:

Hola el meu nom és Rachel. Tinc 14 anys. Estic a l’institut, Serrat i Bonastre.

My name is Jaume i am very very proud of your act to defend the harassing student in his class, I give my sincere congratulations.

It seemed quite right for you to explain the story of the king and the king, I think anyone in a school should be as mistreated by others chummed believe that the child is gay. I think it's great that you do them in front of those parents who did not seem well you explain that story. Ah! I forgot, I'm from Barcelona (Spain) i am going to school Josep Serrat i Bonastre.

Congratulations for defending the child.

JAUME

Hola Sr. Currie. Ah! Se m'oblidava, sóc de Barcelona (Espanya) vaig a l'escola Josep Serrat i Bonastre. Felicitacions per la defensa del nen. Jaume

CAMILO:

It was exactly what you did to help children saver to be guey not matter so they nohicieron more bulling that child have told me they've read the book of the king and the King i there were parents who complained that leieras them that book but there were others who said that was fine because they could also go to their hijos.A-I thought it was great that teacher cared for their students.

SERGIO:

Sincerament, Sergio (Institut Josep Serrat i Bonastre)

Dear Mr. Currie.

My name is Raquel and I am 13 years old and study at the Institut Josep Serrat i Bonastre.

I think it's good that you told students the story of King and King, since everyone has the right to decide what they want to be.

What surprised me was that students' parents complained, since if they were in that student's place I don't think they would have liked that.

I liked the fact that you defended a student who suffered bullying, since not all teachers would have done that.

I have friends that suffered bullying and it didn't stop until they got older and left school. I think it's very unfair that some people will fight about what is someone else's decision.

Thank you for defending that boy.

Raquel

LAURA:

Hello, my name is Laura, I am writing from Spain Mr. Currie, and I would like to congratulate you on your great act of courage in your school. I found something very noble about you because society does not entirely accept the sexual condition of some people. My thinking is not to see we are so different from those of another condition, just because they like the same sex or want to change sex. After all we are all equal, some more and others less. We all have to accept all those people who like the same sex or anything else. They are people like us and we should not discriminate because of their tastes, they do not deserve that. Since some children are afraid to confront their sexuality, you can see things like bullying or worse. No one deserves to have to go through those things. For some, so much pressure is put on them they just try to commit suicide. Apart from my opinion on homosexuality and focusing on your great act, I am proud to know there are still people noble enough to stand up to other people and open other children's eyes about the reality with a story and teach them that even having different sexual tastes they are still like you and do not deserve contempt.

Congratulations again for your great act of courage. Greetings from Spain.

Hello. My name is Rachel, I am 14 years, and I go to school at Serrat i bonastre. I really liked what you did, reading the book " King and King ". There were many parents who did not like you showing them the book because they said it was offensive, and others said it did not suit their ages. But what I liked most was that more parents supported you for what you did. I would love to be there to support you in that talk and hear what they discussed, I would also love to work in a situation like this to give support to people that suffer bullying. It is bad, like racism.

Thanks for reading my letter. It would be a pleasure to meet you.

Hello, Mr. Currie. My name is Jaume. I am very, very proud of your action to defend the student who was harassed in your class. I give you my most sincere congratulations. CAMILO:

It was exactly right what you did to help save the child. It doesn't matter if he's gay. So they would stop bullying that child you read the book of the king and the king. There were parents who complained that you read them that book, but there were others who said that was fine because they could also talk to their children. I thought it was great that a teacher cared about his students.

SERGIO:

Hello, Omar Currie. I decided to write this letter to tell you that I very much liked the decision you took for this boy (the one who suffered bullying for being a homosexual) to read the students the story of the king and king. I am heterosexual myself, but I believe we all have to live together because, after all we are all human: whether we are white or black, gypsies or Jews, homosexuals or heterosexuals. For instance, my favourite actor, Barney Stinson, of the TV series “How I Met Your Mother” is heterosexual in the series but in real life is gay, and his being gay does not change his being my favourite character. Or, talk about basketball: my favourite basketball players are Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Both are black but they are still my favourite players.

Sincerely,

Sergio (Institut Josep Serrat i Bonastre)
