The United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21, provides an opportunity for all humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, to forward the ideals of and conditions for peace. This global day is observed by hundreds of millions of citizens in cities, towns and villages worldwide, and thousands of NGOs, as well as citizens and governments, organize and engage in diverse peace-related activities on and around this global day.

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE?

The International Day of Peace, also known as Peace Day, was brought into being by United Nations Resolutions in 1981 and 2001. Each year, hundreds of students take part in a student observance of Peace Day at the United Nations which includes Messengers of Peace. View the UN's Peace Day page: www.un.org/peaceday.
