Teen Leadership Conference goes around the world

The 2013-2014 South Dakota 4-H Youth Council has announced the theme, “Around the World with TLC” for the annual Teen Leadership Conference (TLC) to be held on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings.
TLC is a conference designed to strengthen leadership skills to better their communities.
To start off the week, an organized group photo will be taken with all Youth Council members and delegates in the conference shirts and then an opening ceremony will be held to introduce the Youth Council members and volunteers for the week. Guest speaker VJ Smith will be sharing insights to all delegates to inspire them.
In order to meet new people, different workshops will be available for youth attendance throughout the week, falling beneath the titles “World of Opportunities,” “World of Issues,” “World of 4-H” and “World of Fun.”
Each TLC delegate will be required to attend leadership workshops with their small “continent” groups. Within the organized workshop schedule, participants will mingle during free time, plan skits and utilize talents for the talent show. A banquet and dance concludes the week with an induction ceremony for new Youth Council members and officers.
Registration is open for all youth ages 13-18 from across the state whether they are enrolled in their local county 4-H programs or not.
TLC 2014 will be held from June 2-6 and registration closes on May 10, 2014. West River participants can be provided with transportation for a nominal fee.
