First Annual Cave Writing Contest Open For Submissions

STURGIS, S.D., 14 April, 2021 -- This year is the International Year of Caves and Karst, and in celebration at Rushmore Cave, they are hosting their first annual cave writing contest.

"The contest is open to anybody who wishes to join," Kevin Chase said. "Any genre of poem or short story is eligible as long as there is an obvious connection to either cave(s) or karst landscape. As people investigate caves and karst for the contest, we hope that it will help spread the importance of these valuable ecosystems especially here in the Black Hills."

Chase is Cave Manager at Rush Mountain Adventure Park Home of Rushmore Cave.
