Rolled up Jeans, Vans or Nike shoes and tank tops are a few of the most popular trends in Germany and Europe.

Shopping in America is a different definition than in Germany. In Germany individuals are not that far away from shopping opportunities.

The quality of the clothes are different from country to country and from store to store. Clothes in Germany are more expensive, but better quality is not always guaranteed. In some areas of America, there are so many ranges of quality. For instance, the Buckle is high quality and high price; whereas, Aeropostale is high quality and generally more affordable.

“I am assuming that in any state that you go into, the citizen in that state will have his or her own look. If you went to California, I believe that they would be dressed in more summery/hippy clothes, and if you went to New York City, I am guessing that you would find more of the business and fancier dressed people,” sophomore Jared Downie said.

Fashion in South Dakota is defined in different styles. Typically country style or casual shirts and cargo shorts are popular, but also some rolled up pants. It takes awhile for the trends to reach the midwest, coming from the East and West Coasts where fashion is more prominent.

“Style is an important part of who you are,” senior Samantha Nash said. “Don’t focus on on what other people view as a normal style, and don’t let people tell you what you can and cannot wear.”

Apparently fashion is dictated by where one lives. Accordingly, Germany’s fashion is different from America’s, which is not bad but recognizable if the styles are compared.

Giovanni Boewer, Junior at Angell High School Freiburg in Southern Germany, represents the German style including rolled up pants. 1. Adidas sneakers, rolled up Jeans, white shirt and a red jacket. 2. Brown sneakers, grey jeans and grey t-shirt. 3. An outfit for a rainy day, rain coat and rolled up pants. 4. A beanie with a blue jeans shirt and a red jacket.
