Summary of Study
The Gunnison Valley League became concerned about the long term viability of The First Amendment in January, 2024.  A statewide study was undertaken to learn about local, state and national issues related to The Establishment Clause and The Free Exercise Clause of The First Amendment.  In addition to the study, eighteen different local league meetings were held during the first quarter of 2025 to discuss religious nationalism and its impact on The First Amendment.  The study and position were completed March 1, 2025 and the entire month of March was used by local leagues to debate whether a position related to religious nationalism was needed.  On the first day of April, 2025 a unanimous vote in favor of the position occurred resulting in acceptance of the position by The League of Women Voters of Colorado.
