Summary of Study (limit 500 characters)
The study focuses on the more than 25,000 Whatcom County women who are 18 years or older who are living below 200% of the federal poverty level. The research investigated the level of access these women have to basic services including housing, adequate food, child care, health care, transportation, and legal advice. Issues were studied from the perspective of focus groups of women living on the brink of poverty and from the perspective of agencies that work with them.
