Summary of Position
The League of Women Voters of Oklahoma (LWVOK) believes that development of transit and transportation systems should be environmentally responsible and should provide adequate access to affordable transportation for all citizens. In order to reduce highway congestion, fuel consumption, and vehicular pollution, and to provide better access to housing, jobs, recreation and medical care, the LWVOK advocates the development and maintenance of energy- and time-efficient public transportation systems within and between communities in Oklahoma and the region.
