Title of Study
The Extent of Poverty and its Effect on the Population of South Wood County

Summary of Study
The Poverty Study, adopted by the LWVWRA in April 2015, is the result of concern over the growing poverty in Wisconsin Rapids and the surrounding communities in South Wood County. The focus of the study was to identify a “particular unmet need”. In an attempt to find that unmet need, the committee conducted interviews with experts and organizations in the field.   We have come away from this search for information with a clear belief that local organizations are fully involved and working hard to address the poverty issue.  Our recommendations are not meant to be comprehensive but are intended to advocate and take action to address problems of poverty in the nation, at the state level and in our local communities.
