Study on Charter Government in Collier County
Summary of Study
In
Feb. 2007 the Government Committee of the LWVCC recommended that a study be
conducted to develop a LWVCC position on the criteria that should be met by any
proposed Collier County charter. The committee analyzed the 20 charter counties
in terms of powers, structure, responsibilities of county officers, conflicts
between governmental bodies, citizen initiatives, establishment of salaries and
recall. Consensus questions were developed using common features found in these
charters.
