Open the laptop and turn it on. There should be no need to plug in the power cord, as the laptops generally come with enough battery power to set them up. Set the power cord components off to the side.
Time and Currency
Set the Country or Region to: United States
Set the Time & Currency to: English(US)
Set the Keyboard Layout to: US
User name and Computer Name to Finalizing Settings
For now, simply type in asdf for the user name, and leave the computer name as it is. We will configure this later.
click next
Skip the password setup, leave it blank for now.
click next
Accept all terms and licences.
click next
Use recommended settings.
click next
Choose UTC - 0600 - Central Time, and verify the correct time for Central Time Zone.

Skip Wireless Setup
Let Windows finalize settings
Connect to the network via LAN.
Click Check for Dell Updates.
Wait for Dell to verify, download, and install updates.
Restart if applicable.
Determine who will be using this laptop, and what area they are in.
For instance: If the laptop will be used in OKC, the appropriate naming convention would dictate that this laptop should be named OKCLT-016.
Start Menu, Right click computer and click Properties.
Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings click Change Settings.
Click Change to rename the computer.
Name the computer as indicated above
Under Domain, type Flogistix.lp
Provide proper credentials once asked, and click OK or APPLY.
You must restart the computer for these changes to become effective. Do so now, you will be prompted.
On OKCDC, when the laptop appears in Active Directory, drag and drop it into the appropriate bucket.
At some point in the setup, you are likely to encounter a window that asks about Bluetooth setup. Ignore this and exit the prompt if it appears.
Once you log back onto the computer after adding it to the domain click the start menu, and right click Computer. Choose Manage.
On the left panel, choose Local Users and Groups.
Click Users
Click Administrator. Set the password as outlined in Credentials. Uncheck Deactivate this account.
Log off, and log back on as Administrator.
Return to the same screen you were in when you created the Administrator Account.
Delete asdf, and ignore its plea for mercy as you remove it forever from the system.
On the left panel again, choose groups. On the right panel now, click administrators.
Click Add.
In the text-box, type the name of the user you wish to assign this laptop to.

Once you have typed enough of the name to be recognized, click Check Names.
Select the name of the user you wish to add. Click OK.
Return to the desktop. in the start menu, type UAC. As the UAC GUI comes up, set it all the way to the bottom, disabling UAC.
Open Internet Explorer and navigate to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download.
Select the appropriate version of Windows. You can check this by locating the system settings in the control panel.
Download and Run the program. Let Windows install the software.
Check the box yes for turning on a firewall if one does not exist.
Check no when it asks you to be a part of the user program.
Decline scanning of the Laptop unless it is not new.
Let MSE scan for updates and apply them if necessary.
When Microsoft Security Essentials has finished installing go to http://get.adobe.com/reader and download the reader.
Be careful here, as Adobe may try to get you to download McAfee. DO NOT download McAfee.
Install.
If Adobe does not come with Google Chrome by default, download and install it at https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/.
Choose update automatically for Chrome.
Microsoft Office Suite 2010 and GSYNC are available on an external HDD. Once you locate this HDD navigate to office/setup. Run the setup file.
Once installation is complete, navigate back out of the office folder and get back onto the root of the HDD.

Setting Up the Users Account
Log off of the Administrator account and log back in using the users credentials.
In the Start Menu under All Programs, navigate to Google Apps Sync and choose add a new Google apps sync user.
Follow the prompts, and enter the credentials of the new user. This should add the user and open Microsoft Outlook. If Outlook does not open, open it and verify the email is set up. Microsoft should have sent the default email.
At this time, verify Office has installed correctly and activate the product over the internet when it prompts you.
In the start menu under All Programs, right click the entire office folder and choose send to desktop as shortcut.
In the office folder shortcut on your desktop, right click Outlook and pin it t the taskbar.
The laptop should now be set up for the user. Verify that a laptop bag exists, and if so ask the user if they need one. Deliver the laptop or ship it via FedEx, whichever is applicable. If using FedEx, be sure to insure the laptop for the purchase price.
