The purpose of this is to establish a standard guide to follow in the 30-Day Basic Training Program as a Field Service Mentor and a list of recommended requirements to be qualified as a Field Service Mentor.
Field Service Mentor: The Field Service Mentor will consist of the following duties based on the structure of Flogistix at the time.
The Field Service Mentor is an individual that has shown initiative in their role as a technician. This role is intended for an individual who has shown leadership abilities, teaching and communication skills, along with the mechanical ability to safely maintain, operate, and repair with little or no supervision. The mentor should show willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise. This individual has also proven themselves in their ability to communicate and work with others including customers as well as taken on the responsibility of teaching and mentoring Service Technicians. A Field Service Mentor must be selected by the Area Manager and approved by the Field Service Director. This individual must be able to teach and guide the Mentee by using the guide seen below.
The Field Service Mentor will answer directly to the Area Service Manager. This individual will advise the Area Service Manager to help coordinate what additional training needs to be done with new Field Service Technicians that are in the 30-Day Basic Training Program
Duties to Include:
Standard Duties of all Field Service Technicians:
Abide by all Flogistix Policies and represent Flogistix to our Customers and fellow Employees in a Professional and Courteous Manner.
Abide by all Flogistix Safety Policies and report any and all incidents/accidents.
Stop any known unsafe acts being committed by anyone working in, on or around any Flogistix facility, vehicle, or compressor package.
Do not perform any task that you feel is out of your ability to perform whether physically or mentally that may cause harm to yourself or the equipment you are working on. Any employee of Flogistix has the right to refuse or stop work ("Stop Work Authority") or actions for an unsafe act being committed.
Notify the Area Service Manager of any policy violations that may require additional training or disciplinary action of a policy that is not being followed.
Standard Duties of a Field Service Mentor:
Show advanced mechanical abilities
Show advanced knowledge in compression, engines, electrical, etc..
Show computer based knowledge
Show advanced Diagnosing/Troubleshooting knowledge
Follows all EHS & Field Service protocols and procedures
Offer any advice for service or repair work that is done in the field or shop to all Flogistix rental compressors. This includes helping either verbally or hands on when instructing to make sure the new Technician does it in a safe and professional manner.
Show willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise with the mentee
Show initiative in working with and developing new Field Service Technicians
See that all company issued equipment, that includes all tools either shop or field, hand or power tools is being maintained and kept up to standards. This is including company vehicles.
Must be able to prepare the trainee for their everyday job task
Must be able to prepare the trainee for their Basic Training Exam by following the Mentors Guide to Training (See Attached at bottom of page)
Flogistix Basic Training Program:
The Flogistix Basic Training Program is the new training path being applied to all new hire technicians. This program will integrate with the 6-month program already in place. In this program the New Hire Technician will ride along with the Mentor for 30 days. During these 30 days there is specific material that needs to be gone over. A mentors guide to training will be provided to each mentor to follow to ensure the trainee is getting the necessary training. The Area Manager shall have a weekly discussion with the trainee to track the progress during the basic training. A weekly checklist will be provided to the Area Manager to scan and attach to the employees record. At the end of the 30 days the trainee will be assigned an exam in Paycom. This exam shall be completed before the Area manager does their 30-day new hire review. The exam will be assigned to the technician and expire within 1 day. During this exam the technician can use Wiki for research necessities. If the technician fails the exam they shall be reviewed to determine whether they need an extra two weeks in the ride along period or can be released on their own.
Roles and Responsibilities:
New Hire:
Responsible for reviewing each weeks checklist with the Mentor
Report any issues involving inadequate training directly to the Area Manager
Mentor:
Mentor should ensure that they have received each weeks checklist from the Area Manager
Mentor is responsible for covering and documenting each weeks training tasks.
Mentor must ensure that the New Hire has performed and/or understands each task assigned.
Once a task is completed the Mentor shall sign and date upon completion of each task.
Each weekly checklist shall be submitted to the Area Manager upon completion for the Area Manager to review
If any issues arise pertaining performance or issues with the New Hire understanding specific task, Mentor shall inform the Area Manager as soon as possible
Area Manager:
Area Manager is responsible for providing/reviewing each weekly checklist to Mentor
Area Manager is responsible for reviewing the New Hire Weekly checklist and discussing any deficiencies/issues with Mentor and/or New Hire
Area Manager is responsible for retaining all documentation and attaching documentation to the New Hire Employees records
